The Face of Violence AND Survival
Save the Date! Saturday, April 26th. "The Face of Violence and Survival" Touring Exhibit! The Face of Violence and Survival’s objective is to raise awareness of Teen Dating Violence, get people talking about the issue, learn the facts, break misconceptions in order to prevent TDV and DV, how violence and abuse affects and touches almost everyone, and how people ar
e surviving through the violence, and what The Positive Results Corporation (PRC) is doing to eliminate violence and abuse from our homes, schools and community. February is Teen Dating Violence Prevention & Awareness Month, and there is a National Resolution (Senate 373) making it so. The PRC has successfully worked with the cities of Los Angeles (2010), Inglewood (2012), and Santa Monica (2014), getting them to replicate the Senate Resolution 373, making local cities implement their own Resolution, to bring attention to the plight of violence and abuse in Youth and Young Adults. The first stop of "The Face of Violence and Abuse" is Inglewood, California, at the Callie Rose Literary Arts Café, which is owned and operated by Ms. Alisa Orduna (www.facebook.com/CallieRoseInglewood or www.CallieRoseLA.com, on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. The tour will consist of Exhibiting the framed Proclamations from each city (Inglewood, Los Angeles, Santa Monica), & a photo exhibit of people Men, Women and Youth, (who’s parents have approved it) who have been affected by Teen Dating Violence or Domestic violence and abuse. Each picture will have a caption under it with the Victim/Survivor’s information & what form of violence they experienced & who their abuser was. Whether they succumbed to the abuse, or if they are a Survivor, we share what they or their family is doing now to eliminate abuse or bring awareness to the issue~
The exhibit photo's will show various people, to illustrate that violence and abuse does not differentiate young from old, black from white, or rich from poor. This Exhibit which will allow us to examine our fears, phobia’s and prejudices. These pictures WILL NOT be of them in a state of abuse. They will be regular, everyday pictures. Showing the abuse can cause some people to judge or make preconceived judgment about the victim. The tour will ultimate become a “Living Tour”, where attendee’s can personally participate, sharing a photo or memory of a loved one, friend or family member who was affected by violence & abuse.
