“We switched from OG to Sound-to-Print. Here's what happened.”
District and school leaders share why they made the change—and the reading growth they're seeing year over year.
For decades, traditional phonics (e.g., OG) pointed to letters and told students: "This letter makes the sound..." But here's the problem:
Letters don't make sounds. People do!
The Sound-to-Print method flips it around. We begin with the sounds kids already say every day, then show them how to write those sounds on paper. It's like giving them the key to a code they already know. That's why the Sound-to-Print method (i.e., Linguistic Phonics) works so well for all students—including struggling readers, PreK students, and English language learners.
