If you’ve read Ani Zonneveld An Unlikely Social Justice Warrior: Making My Life Count as a Muslim Feminist, you’ll know the profound impact that Amina Wadud’s co-ed congregational Friday prayer in 2005 had on Ani’s work and on the birth of MPV.

Through our interfaith marriage services we help our couples to formalize their marriage while incorporating the traditions of Islam either in person across the United States or virtually from anywhere in the world.

There’s still 3 more days to register for our 15th (and final!!) Progressive Islam Curriculum Live Workshop, led by educator and MPV Board Member Kendra Cordova.

Join us as we continue our dive into Unit 8: Anti-Racism and Islam examining the presence of slavery in early Islamic communities, what the Qur’an and Hadith say about slavery, and how racism manifested in early Muslim societies, despite Quranic teachings condemning racism and prejudice.

The workshop will conclude will an analysis of various tools featured previously in the curriculum that can help us to critique racism in our communities, without falling into an Orientalist critique.

For a limited run, Headbang, a Silver Thread supported film is playing on its own this week at Lumiere Music Hall in Los Angeles.

Headbang explores the complex power of the hijab, and how a seemingly simple piece of cloth embodies both what the wearer imbues it with and what society project onto to it, through the lens of two different young women.

A Silver Thread supported project, Anna Khaja, co-founder of Silver Thread, is the film’s director and MPV president & Silver Thread co-founder, Ani Zonneveld, was a consulting producer and plays an imam in the film.

Boh Guerra is a certified One Spirit interspiritual companion and counselor based in Pennsylvania. Rooted and inspired by Islam’s principles of inclusivity, social justice, tawhid (oneness), and compassion, Boh specializes in LGBTQ+ and interfaith marriages. Muslims for Progressive Values is excited to once again partner with Dr. Hasib Nasiri for two new Reading Circle cohorts.

The first, Reading Circles in Islamic Feminism, is a year‑long journey into the thinkers, debates, and intellectual traditions that have defined Islamic feminist thought.

The second, Reading Circles in Q***r Islam, offers a carefully curated exploration of gender and sexuality in Muslim traditions, bringing together critical gender analysis, historical insight, and contemporary Muslim narratives.
