GD Yearbook Launch 🏟️✨

Tonight at 7 PM, the 2026 GD Yearbook goes live.
Built around the language of sports, this year’s website turns each student into a player, with portraits, gestures, signatures, and trading cards that archive not only our work, but also our personalities, energies, and presence throughout the year.

We also made physical card decks, boxes, and stickers featuring all current GD students. Each student has their own card.

Current GD students and faculty — stop by D300 to pick up your free deck!

Cut your own corners and the cards are free.
If we cut them for you, they are $15 :)

Big thanks to everyone on the team who made this happen 💥

Thanks Cowboy Coder and the yearbook team for making this happen!

FRUI-TEE Market 🍓 Last Thursday we took over the space next to Steve‘s.

Students, faculty, fresh printed T-shirts and totes, all wrapped up in the most satisfying FRUI- packages. We picked our colors, grabbed our tees, and that was it.

Shoutout to the team for designing, producing, and pulling this whole thing together!🧃 .bah ._.designs .y0unji_lee

Designers’ Baking Session 🥖

Dylan Levine said it best:
“Let‘s make this bread. Let’s bake this bread. Let‘s break bread. Bread and roses. This will be the greatest thing since sliced bread.“

Last Thursday, some of our current BFAs and MFAs, alumni, and faculty gathered at MOM’s in the Chouinard dorm for a baking session. Our visiting faculty, Roman Jaster, guided us through the process from dough to bread.

In the courtyard of Chouinard, we shared in the aroma of rosemary, the sweetness of guava jam, and the creaminess of butter, accompanied by the tender sunlight and a soft breeze at the end of March.
Big thanks to the host committee for leading the session!

✨A special book from visiting faculty Christina Huang:
“Gathering: Ongoing Work by Current Interests in Downtown LA.”

Christina spoke about the design through her choices of material, binding, and content focus in the book. The cover is wrapped in a fabric-like material more commonly used in packaging, giving the book an unexpected tactile quality. The binding uses an elastic cord, allowing the book to expand and shift, making it feel like a loose and growing object, much like the design process itself.

Inside, a mix of papers ranging from toothy uncoated stock to glossy sheets supports different types of content, including photographs of sites and works, as well as drawings and models. A series of tableaus document material experiments and conceptual thinking throughout each project.

Text is kept minimal, with the focus placed on imagery and material, foregrounding architecture as an iterative and evolving practice.
