Steve grew up working in construction, starting with the family business, Meichtry California Company, right out of high school. He did not have it easy, and worked from the ground up on many projects as a young man. He worked with his Dad, Paul, and the company foremen learning aspects of construction from the "survey" stage to "completion" as an apprentice until becoming a Superintendent himself
