Fun fact: you do not actually know what your voice sounds like. 🤔
The version you hear when you speak is partially shaped by the vibrations traveling through your own skull (very glamorous sentence, I know), which means recorded audio sounds different to you than it does to everyone else.
So when you hear yourself on video and immediately think, “OH absolutely not,” what you’re often reacting to is unfamiliarity, not objective badness.
Your audience is not having the same emotional experience you are.
They’re just hearing… your voice.
Which means a lot of what we call “cringe” is actually just the discomfort of witnessing ourselves from the outside.
Anyway. I heard my own voice (singing) on video and didn’t cry. 🏅

“Cringe” has become shorthand for visible effort. 👇
We’ve built such a culture around irony and detachment that people will mock someone for dancing, speaking, promoting their business, trying a new skill, or simply being earnest online.
But letting yourself be seen before you feel fully polished? That’s brave. 💪
And I think we need to stop punishing people for trying online.
Better to be cringe in public than caged in your own mind.🔥
Anyway. Go post the thing.🎉

I have this theory that a lot of you are sitting on GREAT content…but you can’t see it anymore because they’re you’re close to it. What feels “obvious” to you is often the exact thing your audience wants to hear. The way you work. The way you think. The tiny stories you brush past. The opinion you almost didn’t post. The sentence you deleted because it felt “too much.”
That’s usually the good stuff (!!) So instead of another webinar about hooks and algorithms and posting consistency, I wanted to create something more hands-on. More collaborative. More real. ✨
The Visibility Edit: Greensboro is a small-group content day for creative entrepreneurs who want to get out of their heads and actually MAKE things.
We’re spending the day brainstorming, filming, creating, refining ideas, and helping each other find the stories worth telling.
Wednesday, May 27
10 AM–3 PM
Greensboro, NC
Also: the venue is gorgeous. Which never hurts. 😌
