About Your Instructor:
STARFARI is the stage name of Ali Jafari, a disco and mid-tempo producer based in the Bay Area. Over the past 20 years, he has embarked on a musical journey characterized by a unique blend of vibrant disco beats, infused with psychedelic and international samples. During this time, he has shared stages with renowned artists such as Folamour, Poolside, Tycho, L’imperatrice, Boys Noize, Franc Moody, Peggy Gou, Mindchatter, Polo & Pan, Madeon, Foals, Bonobo, Moon Boots, Tom Misch, and many others who have inspired him.

Angelica Hay is an interdisciplinary artist, musician, certified breathwork facilitator and one half of Pink Sky based in Los Angeles. She started Breath/Work to share how intentional breathing can help creatives navigate stress, stay inspired, and feel more in control of their process and day to day life. With a background in science, art and music, Angelica brings a grounded multidisciplinary and creative approach to music production.

This week at IO we interviewed . LA-based producer, DJ, and singer-songwriter just released her latest single “Big Talk”. Her sounds take inspiration from disco, funk, jazz, and Latin electronica, leaning heavily on energetic vocal leads, live instrumentation, and the nostalgia of indie dance.

This week we interviewed Zach Reisler. Better known as , Zach is an LA-based house music DJ and producer. From festival stages like Starvibes Campout and Shabang, to intimate clubs like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in LA, Fly South brings sets with infectious energy to listeners across California.
He recently released “Sky” with Without the San, a euphoric track combining both of their artistic voices.
In this conversation, we uncover what their collaboration process looked like, and Zach’s experience learning music production at IO.

The self-proclaimed “First Lady of Beatdown,” Lady Blacktronika is a prolific producer, DJ, vocalist, and label owner known for her raw, sensual take on house music. She began producing in the early 2000s, quickly landing releases on international labels and carving out her own lane in the global scene.
Her latest album, Tripple Blackness / Future History, pulls from “many parts of her life,” blending Industrial Techno, Jazz, Hip Hop, Gabber, and New Jack Swing into a deeply personal and genre-bending project.

About Your Instructor:
San Francisco-based producer and ‘C3DO Recordings’ label-owner Dylan C. Greene emerged in the electronic scene during 2021, gaining recognition through remix competitions and collaborations within online music communities. His official remix for Disclosure’s ‘Never Enough’ led to releases on Kitsuné Musique and True Romance, as well as remixes for artists such as Lion Babe and Pat Lok.

Ryan Hay is a musician, teacher, and producer committed to helping artists begin and complete meaningful work. He’s released six albums, several EPs, collaborated extensively, and played hundreds of shows, most recently at Treefort Music Fest and Gold Diggers. His teaching approach grows out of years spent writing, producing, and performing, combined with a background in writing and visual art that shapes how he thinks about aesthetics, purpose, and process.
