Snake Therapy with Shira Loa

Japanese Rat Snakes are some of the most delightful snakes to observe in their environments- especially if you provide them with ample climbing opportunities. They are an active diurnal species, and, at least in Elora’s case, have big personalities even in small bodies. They’re also practically a gecko in a snake’s body- their abilities to climb vertical surfaces are unbelievable, and they love to explore the very heights of their habitats. Giving her 4’ of height, a large tree to climb, and a hanging hide has provided more for her and joy for me! I love seeing what she’s getting UP to throughout the day :)

This beautiful girl fascinates and delights me every single day. She heals me. I was feeling so down and off my game today, and spending some time in the sunshine with her lifted my spirits. I also found out she’s got iridescent belly scales! I’m so grateful to have her in my life.
