Kwanzaa isn’t a holiday you rush through.
It’s a practice. A pause. A remembering. (SWIPE…)
At Operation Growth, we honor Kwanzaa because it centers what too often gets lost in the noise: values, intention, and collective responsibility. No tinsel. No pretending. Just truth, roots, and forward motion.
Here are the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa (Nguzo Saba) and how they invite us to grow personally and collectively:
Umoja (Unity)
Unity doesn’t mean agreement. It means commitment. To family. To community. To staying in the room when it gets uncomfortable.
Kujichagulia (Self-Determination)
You get to define yourself. Period. Not your job title. Not your trauma. Not their expectations. Your voice matters.
Ujima (Collective Work & Responsibility)
Healing isn’t a solo sport. We rise faster when we stop pretending we don’t need each other.
Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics)
Where you spend your money is where you place your values. Build, support, and circulate within the community. Wealth is a team project.
Nia (Purpose)
Your life has meaning beyond survival. Beyond hustle. Beyond checking boxes. Purpose is the through-line.
Kuumba (Creativity)
Creativity isn’t optional, it’s ancestral. We create because we were created to. And yes, rest counts as creative work too.
Imani (Faith)
Faith in ourselves. Faith in our people. Faith that even when the path feels foggy, we are not lost.
Kwanzaa reminds us that growth isn’t just about becoming more, it’s about becoming aligned.
Light the candle. Reflect honestly. Carry the principles forward.
And remember: growth doesn’t happen by accident.
It happens by intention.

Have you ever found yourself stepping up to fill a role, only to be told that you weren’t the right fit for the permanent position? I do. It’s a disheartening experience, one that can leave you questioning your abilities and self-worth. Yet, it’s also an opportunity for growth, reflection, and empowerment.
In many organizations, talented individuals often find themselves in interim positions, proving their capabilities and demonstrating their leadership skills, only to be passed over when it comes to permanent roles. This recurring pattern can be discouraging and make you doubt your value. However, it’s crucial to remember that being overlooked for a role doesn’t define your worth or potential as a leader.
The "Own Your Voice. Own Your Power." program is here to help you reclaim your confidence and embrace your leadership journey. This course is designed specifically for Black women ready to step into their power and lead with authenticity and purpose. Over twelve transformative months, you’ll develop essential leadership skills, navigate challenges, and build a supportive network of like-minded women.
You’ll learn to:
✔ Communicate effectively and with confidence.
✔ Harness emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
✔ Navigate and overcome obstacles like imposter syndrome and discrimination.
✔ Build resilience and practice self-care.
✔ Foster inclusive environments and lead with integrity.
✔ Plan strategically and lead with a clear vision.
Our program not only equips you with the tools and strategies needed for leadership but also provides a platform for personal growth and empowerment. You’ll be surrounded by a community that values your voice and recognizes your potential.
Don’t let another opportunity pass you by. It’s time to seek out spaces that value and uplift your contributions. Join "Own Your Voice. Own Your Power." and transform your leadership journey today. Empower yourself to make a lasting impact and step into the leadership role you deserve.
Your voice matters. Your leadership matters. It’s time to own your voice and own your power. Join us and unlock your full potential.

Happy Black History Month!
Here's the complimentary replay of my latest class https://vimeo.com/brandirichardthompson/blackhistory2023.
Here is what people are saying about it.
"THANK YOU SO MUCH for your presentation this morning which was extremely informative and helped to broaden everyone’s understanding. Much of the information was heartbreaking (a
grievous understatement), yet the way in which you presented it offered those who will an opportunity to learn and consider some truths - without feeling threatened or blamed.
Understanding what happened and being able to connect the dots concerning how what happened has influenced current life situations is critical. Your presentation helped highlight truth in a way that will perhaps help others to be able, not to accept blame, but to acknowledge advantage and work to correct the results of past injustices as well as current injustices and unfair treatment. It gives people reasoned and dispassionate handles for themselves and others in their circles of influence when it comes to addressing this very difficult issue. Thanks again."
"Powerful, Compelling, and Moving presentation by Brandi. Amazing."
"This was my second time seeing your presentation and it’s so rich with feeling and information, I think we’d benefit from watching it every year."
"This was truly an incredible History Presentation. Each year I learn something new doing your presentations."
