There's a question your family has been carrying for generations. In October, we're going to try to answer it.

Coming Home: A Njila Louisiana Research Weekend is a five-day, archive-based descendant research program anchored in Baton Rouge and the River Parishes. October 9–13, 2026.

This isn't plantation tourism. It's not a history class. It's serious, facilitated genealogical research for Black American descendants with Louisiana-connected family lines — people who show up with an unanswered question and leave with a documented roadmap and a community of people who understand what it costs to not know.

Memory is survival. That's not a tagline for me. It's the reason I built Njila.

We're hosting 20 researchers for the full program, with 40 free seats available for a Saturday morning community session in Port Allen. Research locations include the West Baton Rouge Museum and Whitney Plantation in Wallace.
