I thought it would be a good idea to take him to a class and to get him acquainted with the basics of diapering, burping, bathing, etc. I left the class extremely disappointed in the material covered and the general, baby-book advice that was offered. Many of the attendees had specific, practical questions and concerns drawn directly from what they were experiencing at the time. When our instructor was unable to answer some of their questions, I chimed in to help the soon-to-be parents with their particular dilemma.

Later, I realized how many in-depth topics are left out of general preparatory classes. I knew I could help other expectant parents by teaching the real basics and beyond – arming parents with insights and tips gleaned from years of taking care of infants, including multiples. I could help them with best practices in how to respond to crying or distressing behaviors as well as manage the general uncertainties of new parenthood. I have always found joy in using my professional child care experience to help my friends, family and clients. My goal is that you are comfortable enough in my class to ask me anything and that you not only see me as a teacher, but as a fellow parent who learns new things everyday from my own little instructional guide, Lillie. No subject is off limits and I will be happy to share stories from my many years as a professional nanny caring for newborns, as well as my own journey through motherhood.
