IATSE is ON STRIKE against CoComelon: The Melon Patch, a live-action spin-off of the union-made animated series.
Rather than provide fair wages and benefits to the crew the producer is trying to hire scabs for the production that’s shooting in Sun Valley, Calif.

A wonderful highlight of Serj Kazarian, who owns one of our many signatory costume houses.

Check out part two on how that legacy lives on — Armenian creativity in Hollywood didn’t just survive, but evolved and thrived across generations. From resilience to impact, it’s an ongoing story of craft and culture passed forward.

38 films to be made in California via tax credit program 04/27/2026

"Nearly 40 film projects will be shot and produced in the state of California as they were rewarded tax credits through the Film and Television Tax Credit Program, the office of Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Thursday.

The movies range from small, independent films with the budget of under $10 million to bigger productions, including Disney's animated "Phineas and Ferb,'' the Will Ferrell-produced film "Self Help,'' the Laverne Cox-starring film "Black is Blue'' and an upcoming animated feature from DreamWorks.

The projects will collectively generate nearly $800 million for the state and local economy, Newsom's office said."

Hollywood has "generations of talent."
Indeed we do.

Reposted There’s no sugar-coating it: the people who power LA’s film and TV industry are struggling. For decades, our city was a place where creatives and artists could build a life: buy a home, start a college fund, retire with dignity. Today, it feels like that dream is fading. But I’m not giving up the fight to bring it back. Far from it. We’re just getting started.

That’s why I introduced the LA Creator Pass pilot program to support the “missing middle” of production — crews of 50 folks or less. Smaller, independent projects like these are the beating heart of this industry. Overcoming these challenges require all of us working together, and there’s a lot to do! I’ve got 8 motions in City Hall, each designed to save entertainment jobs in Los Angeles. Our workers, families, and communities can’t wait. Let’s fight together and Keep Hollywood Home!

We’ve all gotten unhelpful pins from mystery fittings. It’s no skin off my nose to have to do things twice, but it is an inefficient use of labor hours. Good designers know the worth of having an expert pin for fit and alterations not just for photos. Costume Designers Guild
