Love this idea for practicing place value. If you have fruit loops, you could use different colors for each place value too 🧮

We like to call this Snack Math! Students stack Cheerios to represent ones, tens, or hundreds, giving them a hands-on way to see how place value works.

All you need is Play-Doh, dry spaghetti, and Cheerios. ✅

🎟️ Fourth graders can get a free family pass to all National Parks for a year 🎉🎉🎉

🗻The Every Kid Outdoors program gives fourth graders and their families free access to over 2,000 federal parks, lands, and waters for an entire year. The pass is offered every year to fourth graders in the United States. No matter where you live in the U.S., you’re within two hours of an included site. Every Kid Outdoors was created so fourth graders and their families could discover our wildlife, resources, and history for free. The program chose fourth graders because research shows that kids ages nine to 11 are beginning to learn about the world around them. They’re open to new ideas, and they are likely to connect to nature and our history.

School taught us we always had to prove our learning.
Unschooling means not forcing kids to perform for us.

Instead of testing for learning, we start noticing it. We CAN notice it because we're there, paying attention.
It's in conversations, obsessions, rabbit holes, interesting books, places we visit, time with friends, things cooked in the kitchen, things we're researching for fun... It's in life!

We don't have to force the learning. An unschooling parent's job is to create an environment that encourages learning, exploration, and inspiration.
And then we pay attention, and notice all of the ways learning is happening every day.

Magic.
