Jade Mountain Institute Jade Mountain provides long and short term unique journeys through China. Tengchong is a small city.

The Jade Mountain fellowship is an immersive, experiential program for people who thrive on new challenges and experiences. Students will live with a local family, participate in intensive Chinese language classes, and have an immersive experience by apprenticing with a local tradesman and giving back to the community through volunteering. Fellows personalize their experience by choosing their own apprenticeship and volunteer activity. The Jade Mountain Institute is located in the quaint southern Chinese town of Tengchong in Yunnan province. It is nestled at the trailing end of the Himalayas where rocky peaks give way to rolling hills. Surrounded by a landscape of dormant volcanoes and subtropical forested hills, Tengchong is renowned for its medical hot springs, temperate climate, and relaxed way of life. The diverse population of 620,000 is a mix of various hill tribes; making Tengchong an exceptional location to experience indigenous crafts, culture, and lifestyle of some of China’s ethnic minorities.
