Documenting the history of Los Angeles told by the people who lived it. Provided by your personal DeLorean of the Internet!
This page was created to celebrate the history of Los Angeles. Vintage Los Angeles is a labor of love. It is a daily celebration which draws people from all over the world. Alexander Calder's monumental standing mobile, ‘Three Quintains’ has been reinstalled in front of the new David Geffen Galleries at the LACMA Los Angeles County Museum of Art. In 1964, Calder was commissioned to create a fountain for the William Pereira-designed museum. The final work-which was installed when the museum opened to the public on 31 March 1965—comprises three standing mobiles that function as the centerpiece of a fountain.

“Come play with us Danny” vibes at the Queen Mary. And for those who have seen the ‘Poseidon Adventure’, probable best to stay away on New Year’s Eve. 😝

Westwood & Pico Boulevard during the 1960s. This was when Von's had a Van De Kamp spinning windmill on its store front. Is that a JJ NEWBERRY I see too? I believe this bus was headed to Pacific Ocean Park. They had their own radio station which is advertised on the front.

Check out Victor’s Kiddieland! This is Pico and Overland during the 1950s. Just east of The Apple Pan. Does anyone remember this sweet little amusement park? I believe it closed in 1962 when Von’s market acquired the entire property. This is also where the circus was held way back in the day.
This property eventually became the Westside Pavilion. It’s amazing that all those little store fronts across the street are still there today. I love to zoom in and look at everything - like that very cool station wagon next to Kilroy. And the lady with the child in the park. I wonder what that day was like for them.
