It’s that time of year when we need a reminder to focus on the moment.
🌷Spring is here, it’s a time of growth and new life.
It’s time to replace struggle with something easier, better, and much more fun.
Let me explain…
🌟If you’ve been following me for a while, you will know that I talk a lot about FREEDOM, recognizing your self-worth, and practicing compassion. At times it feels daunting to know how to do this…
So what if you didn’t have to know how? I’m here to shift your perspective.
YOU are already doing this.
The answer is simple- practice being in the now.
The practice takes practice.
When life appears extra challenging, simplify- focus on breathing.
We tend to add more when life feels hard, stressful, and confusing.
What if you just focused on breathing, even for just 15 seconds?
Does life feel more manageable in that moment?
What do you think?

The 𝗕𝗜𝗚𝗚𝗘𝗦𝗧 mistake humans make when trying to break up with any habit might surprise you!
I get it; when you're struggling, working harder, setting high expectations, and being stead fast on your decisions seem like the answers to FREEDOM.
And yet, your perseverance and dedication to the narrative in your head leads to greater struggle.
Gaining true FREEDOM requires a counterintuitive approach.
You’re working hard but are more stuck in your habit than ever before.
Here is the deal: no restriction, goals, or ‘plan’ will compensate for the valid key to FREEDOM- SELF COMPASSION.
It’s simple; you’re new plan is:
⚡Not Sustainable
⚡Leaving you in greater despair
⚡Not fun- it feels like a ton of work
⚡Leave’s you feeling worthless
So what if you could truly gain FREEDOM?

Welcome to being human.
I don't know anyone who hasn't experienced a snaccident.
The size of the snaccident ranges from person to person.
Many people who don't have disordered eating overeat at times in life as well as those who do. The difference is that they don't experience shame or guilt as a result of overeating.
Overeating happens . . .
Believing the thoughts that create shame and guilt about the overeating afterward is worse than the actual event—in fact, believing these false narratives just creates more overeating.
So if you've had a snaccident recently . . . oh well, me too!
Move on. It's in the past . . . period.

When we're living on a constant hamster wheel of restrict/binge/shame/guilt, it's so easy to get overwhelmed by all the things we "should" have done or "should" do.
It's in these moments that our thoughts seem to get louder, feel real and all too strong for us to do anything but engage in our habit.
This is perfectly normal. In fact, I don't know anyone who doesn't engage in a habit when they feel overwhelmed and when their thinking feels so intense and so personal.
These are the moments when it's helpful to literally live life moment to moment.
Let go of the pressure to make decisions, reflect, or solve problems.
These are the moments to just be as you are.
🌟No judgement . . .
🌟No self-criticism . . .
🌟Life will show you what to do when it's meant to happen . . .
Sometimes, we just need this reminder.
Save this for the next time you just need this reminder.

I spent so many years focused on the past or the future.
Not truly living now.
Beating myself up for the foods I ate, the way I looked, my perceptions of what others thought.
I somehow lost perspective on the true meaning of life.
Many people perceive life as better health, wellness, and perhaps longevity.
But l would like to suggest that life is the act of being in this moment now. After all, that's all we really know for sure.
Living in the past or living in the future is just a series of thoughts.
Thoughts can't cause problems . . . they are meaningless, they are natural.
In this moment, are there really any problems?
In this moment, are you FREE from your habit?
In this moment, are you okay?
What is the real meaning of Food FREEDOM to you?👇

People are always surprised to hear that I have four habits that I openly discuss:
🍫 chocolate (anything but dark—is that even chocolate?)
🍪 cookies (chocolate chip with lots of chocolate, see👆)
🍹margaritas (on the rocks and I'm picky about the tequila)
☕ coffee with sweet cream
My eating is not perfect.
None of my "habits" create stress or turmoil.
None of these preferences say anything about my self-worth, weight, value, or health.
They are merely preferences; they say nothing about me as a person.
They don't dictate anything about my future . . .
Don't allow food preferences to be a measure of your self-worth or an indication of anything meaningful in your life.
It's just food!
You are so much more . . .

🧶I've recently started to crochet.
I have no idea why.🤷♀️
And I'm not really great, but my natural creativity and wisdom shows me how to transform "mistakes" into really cute intentional details.
🌟My crocheting is not perfect
🌟I've wasted yarn
🌟I've started over
🌟I've had to buy different tools
🌟I've learned which yarn I like and the yarn I don't like
👉I have no expectations for my crocheting
👉There is no pressure
👉There is creativity flowing
And I'm getting better . . .
It reminds me of my Food FREEDOM journey. The only difference is that crocheting feels fun and Food FREEDOM felt like a struggle.
The struggle was as a result of expectations.
I have no expectations for my crocheting . . . and so I'm getting better, quickly . . .
With food I had nothing but expectation . . . the end result was full on struggle.
When we let go a little, our habits change and the answers appear on their own.
Ironically the answer to better crocheting (for me at least) was to loosen my grip . . .
Hmm, do you see a theme?

This year I've re-embraced one of the hobbies I have always LOVED . . . BAKING!
It's an amazing experience to longer FEAR food.
My story is one that I am proud to share, because I'm passionate about helping others. It wasn't that long ago that I had to stop baking for fear that I would eat the food—or worse, binge the entire cake in secret.
It never felt good to have a passion for something that would later cause shame and guilt.
Years later, I BAKE because I love experimenting and challenging myself. This chocolate ganache buttercream cake was delicious and caused me no fear or stress . . . That was my biggest dream years ago.
Food FREEDOM is possible. How your habit shows up today is NOT permanent and says NOTHING about you as a person.
