K–12 students enrolled in Springfield Public Schools are invited to Project Hope—a one-day event where they can pick up new shoes, socks, backpacks, and school supplies to get ready for the school year!

Only students enrolled in Springfield K–12 schools are eligible. Unfortunately, supplies and shoe sizes are not available for pre-K students.

• Ticket reservations begin Monday, August 24 at 7 a.m.

• Multiple appointment times are available, so you can choose what works best for your schedule.
• Every student must have a ticket and be present at the event to receive supplies.

• Giveaway will be held Saturday, August 29 from 1-5 p.m.

Introduction to Nahuatl with “Speak Nahuatl” Instructors

As one of Mexico's 68 Indigenous languages, Nahuatl has over 1.6 million speakers based on 2020 data. It is actually the second most spoken language in Mexico, after Spanish.

Join this introductory language series: Jalisco Nahuatl (N-WP | N-PO) for Beginners with Cuitlahuac Arreola Martinez and Matthew Olmos. Emphasis on Western Peripheral dialects including those from Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán. Language acquisition with practice in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Wednesdays, 5:30- 6:30 p.m.

November 4 & 18

Workshops are facilitated in English and/or Spanish, depending on who attends.

This event is a collaboration with the library and the Speaknahuatl.com collective.

El náhuatl es una de las 68 lenguas indígenas de México y cuenta con más de 1,6 millones de hablantes según datos de 2020. De hecho, es la segunda lengua más hablada del país, después del español. Participe en esta serie de introducción a la lengua náhuatl: Jalisco Nahuatl para principiantes con Cuitláhuac Arreola Martínez y Matthew Olmos. Se hace énfasis en los dialectos de la periferia occidental, incluidos los de Jalisco, Colima y Michoacán. Adquisición del idioma con ejercicios de comprensión auditiva, expresión oral, lectura y escritura.
