🌸 Say their names.
🌸 Share their stories.
🌸 Honor their memories.

Sending so much love today on International Bereaved Mother’s Day. And also every day.

Hi friends,

I am sad, and angry, and distracted, and hurting - and maybe you are too.

On the first night of Hanukkah (which was last night), I usually send a note about miracles and light, and all that Hanukkah offers to believe in possibility. But yesterday I couldn’t do it.

This weekend has been so heavy - so, so, so heavy. But I believe in showing up. And I want to show up for you because in many ways, being in my community is showing up for me, and I am grateful.

Just like the infertility community gets tired from being told to find the silver lining (maybe it just sucks, people!), I don’t want to sugar coat anything. But I am working internally to be the light that Hanukkah seeks.

My rabbi and friend, Sharon Brous, wrote about a phrase called “kusta d’chiyuta” which means the small, holy spark of vitality that contains the light of hope and possibility for a better future.

I wish for us to find or to be that spark of vitality.

Sending love.
xo,
Abbe
