Hey Fellas - Have you ever felt alone inside even though you’re surrounded by family, friends, co-workers, church community, etc?

I have too...

Throughout my whole life, I’ve had people around me: teammates, friends, girlfriends, church community, and so many more circles of people, but for some reason at night I would lay my head on my pillow and something would still feel hollow inside.

Something was missing...

I just couldn’t figure out what

I tried to fill that hole in my soul with:
* As many women as I could - didn’t work
* Alcohol - that didn’t work
* Worldly status - that definitely made it worse
* Awards and accolades - felt good for 5seconds then back to hollow
* Serving others - yes, serving others to fill my own soul holes - how backwards is that, right?
* Money - made a ton of it, and still felt empty
* Being busy all the time - that left me exhausted

Guess what I’ve figured out...
I had a hole in my soul because I was looking everywhere but the place that can actually fill it and bring me peace

Inside of my own self!!

That may sound strange to you, but...
🔥When was the last time you chose to go on a walk by yourself and check-in on your emotions
🔥When was the last time you took self-care time and sat in nature: reflecting and celebrating yourself?
🔥When was the last time you CHOSE your own emotions and sat down woth your wife face-to-face and said “this is how I feel inside about myself, our
Marriage and our family” and HONORED your own emotions?

That aching hole in my soul is because I was chasing everything the world promised would fulfill me and I left myself behind long time ago to the point where I was numb to my own feelings every single day and was on auto-pilot

I find myself sometimes getting back to that “busy” Ryan space and feeling that hole start again and need to bring myself back to me

What Am I Chasing?!? 🤯🥵

I was living in Greensboro, Alabama.
I was teaching 8th grade world history.
I was coaching middle school boys’ basketball.
I was assistant coach to Varsity Boys Basketball team that would, a few weeks after this post, win the school’s first ever State Championship.
I was a recipient of a teaching award for my region.
I was a leader in my school and teaching cohort.

BUT....🤔

This is what I felt, wrote, and posted in the midst of all of that.

My soul for a very long time always felt like something was missing no matter how much I did, earned, achieved, etc.

My soul yearned for something external to fill what was missing inside

And

I had the equation all wrong ❌

Nothing external will ever fulfill what is missing on the inside
I am everything I needed and wanted
I have everything I was searching for

The world will shout at you to ‼️❗️‼️
BUY MORE AND DO MORE

My soul now...
BE YOUR TRUE “I AM...” MORE AND
Fulfill from creation within not soulless chasing outwardly

Throughout our lives, we watch our parents, friends’ parents, our older siblings, etc and that sentence/definition get filled in subconsciously and consciously.

My sentence has shifted and changed from:
Fun
Routine
A commandment

TO
Painful
Hurtful
Challenging
Unsteady
Confusing 🧠
Easily destroyed 💔

And when I met Keisha, she dismantled all of the negative definitions with her soul, her love, and by loving herself and allowing me to let her love in

My definition now is

Love and marriage is PEACEFUL, JOYFUL, and an Adventure ❤️🔥🙏

Yes!!! Two huge things happened to me this last week

I struggled to feel and express my emotions fully
I struggled deeply with feeling that I needed to always perform and earn so much money and rewards to earn love and feel worthy
I struggled to put my mask down and truly reveal all of me with no shame, blame, or fault

BUT - A Major Changing Point for Me Came This Past Week:

I Developed a brotherhood based on vulnerability, being revealed, and fighting so deeply to help each other heal and become that tears stream down our faces while confronting each about our experiences and wounds in our lives
