More than ever, the last few years have shown us the importance of community and of collective care. As we continue to navigate the ongoing global pandemic, onslaught of systemic and cultural harm against marginalized communities, and attacks on basic human rights and bodily autonomy across the globe, we as yoga teachers and practitioners know that our work—in community—is needed.

In rejection of the dominant culture of individualism, we come together to celebrate the significance of self and community care.

You’re invited to take part in stewarding the trajectory of our collective well-being.

I’m practicing reinvesting in my power by embracing change, or rather, adaptability.

We’re dynamic beings and are always taking on new forms. The more we embrace our ever-changing nature, the more readily we move away from patterns and beliefs that aren’t serving us and step into our power.

I’m working on shifting the narrative and putting myself back in my power with these reminders:

• I’m allowed to shift my boundaries any time I need to.
• I’m allowed to change my mind.
• I’m allowed to move, evolve, and embrace every season of me.

Offering to carry with you:
May you be courageous in your endeavors to embrace your dynamic nature.

I was talking with my therapist recently about what it feels like to create nourishing and supportive environments in all aspects.

Something that keeps coming up for me is that it’s okay, actually necessary, to make nurturing myself a priority. I tend to get caught in the narrative that it’s selfish of me to honor my needs or I’m supposed to care for myself after I’ve taken care of “x,y,z” task, person, etc.

Here are a few reflections I’ve been holding close recently.
–There’s never a bad time to start. Every moment will probably require something different. Needs shift as swiftly as the passing seconds during the day. With every single shift and at every single moment there is space to try something different or new and to honor what you need most. (Knowing that it will probably change again, and that’s okay.)
–Tuning into somatic experience is an opportunity to understand the emotions and sensations passing through. From this space, there’s a chance to name what’s present, and find what nourishment might look like.
–Everything is practice. Explore dissolving the notion of “should be” or rigid expectations and create an environment of consistent, spacious practice.

Gentle offering for consideration: when did you (or will you) start to curate all of your environments with care and support in mind?
How are you nourishing yourself lately?

I’ve been writing some reflections related to a quote from Sharon Salzberg. She says “The healing is in the return, not in never having wandered to begin with.”

In the last few weeks I’ve taken lots of space to return to my practice with intimacy and intention. It can be so easy to get swept up in urgency, hustle culture, and meeting specific time markers as measures of success because that’s what we’ve been indoctrinated to believe.
My recent practice has led me to understanding that my success is less about accumulation or achieving specific goals, it’s about returning to the pace of my intuition.

–nothing is ever certain, there will always be ebbs and flows. the journey is learning how to follow the lead of the ever-present changes.
–there is never a bad or wrong time to return—return to you, your intuition, your pace, your compassion, your practice.
–success is yours to define, if you want to define it at all—settle into curiosity and discover what success means to you. allow yourself to be led by that rather than the constructs of success that society tries to force upon us.

reflection consideration…
• What does success mean or look like for you?
• How do you practice returning?

Share below if you feel called or maybe pause for a moment and reflect 💖

We are meant to wander, to explore, and to create new pathways. It’s okay to feel like you are veering off course, the healing happens in the return.

Each time you arrive, back to yourself, allow yourself to be welcomed with compassion, grace, and open arms.

There’s a saying that goes something like “the finger pointing at the moon is not the moon itself.”

Today, I’m reminding myself that all experiences, practices, and teachings are tools pointing me in a direction and are not a destination. When my perspective shifts to focus solely on the specifics of a practice, it’s like mistaking the pointing finger for the moon.

With all focus and attention on the finger, we might never see the moon. Gazing at the moon is not about the finger showing you where to look, it’s about what the finger is pointing towards.
In the same way, the practices we engage with are not so much about the specifics of the practice as they are about what they are pointing us to.

What practices are you guided by?
More so, what are you being guided towards?

e·merge /əˈmərj/
verb
• to become manifest: become known
• to come into being through evolution

🐛
We are always becoming, always emerging into new ways of being.

The process of emerging is just that, a process.

Sometimes to honor our emerging, we need to turn inward. Part of the journey starts in a space that’s out of view. It might feel like internal exploring, reflecting, or inner learning. Maybe it feels like the cocoon phase of your transformation. We always emerge from somewhere and this part of our journey is vital - it gives us time to discover the ways of emerging that feel good for us.

Emerging, coming into view, being visible, in your own way, is your right and your choice. Your pace is uniquely yours, allow yourself to emerge in your way and at your time.

Wherever you are in the process, remember that you are valid and you are deserving of all the expansion you seek.

Hug yourself today and be reminded of the nurturing you are so very worthy of.
