Why can a child repeat the same activity over and over again?

Maria Montessori observed that there are moments in development in which children feel a special attraction towards certain skills and experiences. He called this Sensitive Periods.

During these periods, learning occurs naturally, deeply and with internal motivation. What for us may seem like repetition, for the child is construction.
