What happens when you combine two approaches to weight management that work in very different ways?

GLP-1 medications influence appetite and calorie intake. Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, has been studied for its effects on weight-related measurements. But does using both lead to better results?

Our latest article examines the available evidence, what remains unknown, and what to consider before using red light therapy alongside a GLP-1 medication.

YOGA + LUMAFLEX: Where Movement Meets Cellular Science 🔴🧘‍♀️

Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years, helping people develop strength, flexibility, balance, and a deeper connection between mind and body.

Now imagine introducing another dimension to that practice: photobiomodulation (PBM).

PBM uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to interact with biological tissues.

Research suggests these wavelengths can influence mitochondrial signaling, cellular energy metabolism, and pathways associated with inflammation and tissue recovery.

Why is this combination so interesting?

🧘‍♀️ Yoga supports physical movement, mobility, breathing, and mental well-being.

🔴 Lumaflex introduces light-based technology studied for its potential role in pain management, recovery, and cellular function.

The two approaches work through different mechanisms, creating an exciting opportunity to explore how they can complement one another.

We're proud to have Anastasia Kruglova as a Lumaflex Master Trainer, helping bring photobiomodulation into the yoga and wellness community.

While the combined benefits of yoga and PBM still require dedicated clinical research, the possibilities for integrating light technology into movement-based wellness practices are worth exploring.

Ancient wisdom meets modern science.

That's the future we're excited to help build.

Proud to partner with Fusion Fitness, one of China's premier gyms, bringing Lumaflex into the world of high-performance training and recovery.

HYROX demands strength, endurance, and resilience. But recovery is just as important as the training itself.

We're receiving fantastic feedback from HYROX athletes incorporating Lumaflex photobiomodulation (PBM) into their post-training and post-race recovery routines.

It's exciting to see more athletes embracing the science of light therapy as part of their performance journey.

Train hard. Recover smarter. Come back stronger. 💪

What color light is best for sleep?

The lighting around you in the evening may matter more than you think.

Red and amber light are generally less disruptive to your sleep-wake cycle than blue-rich light when brightness and exposure are comparable.

Blue-rich light, especially from bright screens and overhead lighting at night, can affect your body's natural sleep timing.

But color isn't the only factor. Brightness, timing, and duration of exposure all play a role.

Want to understand the science behind red, blue, and other light colors? Read our guide to learn what to consider when choosing evening lighting.

What if light could help scientists switch specific neurons on and off?

That is the idea behind optogenetics, a technique that has transformed how researchers study the brain. The work behind it earned Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann, and Georg Nagel the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

The discovery began with light-sensitive proteins found in green algae. Scientists adapted these proteins to control selected nerve cells with light, allowing them to investigate how neural circuits shape brain activity and behavior.

Light is also being studied in another field: photobiomodulation, which examines how red and near-infrared light interact with living tissue. The mechanisms differ, but both fields show why understanding the relationship between light and biology matters.

Our latest article explains the Nobel-winning discovery, how optogenetics works, and how it differs from red light therapy.

What does red light therapy actually do for weightlifters?

The research is more specific than “it helps recovery.”

Current evidence points most clearly toward potential effects on delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and the short-term return of muscle function after strenuous exercise. Findings around exercise performance are more mixed, while evidence that red light therapy directly increases muscle growth remains limited.

Feeling less sore isn't the same as being fully recovered. A change in soreness also doesn't prove that red light therapy builds muscle or replaces progressive resistance training.

Our latest guide looks at the research through a weightlifting lens; including soreness, strength recovery, pre- vs. post-training use, hypertrophy, muscle-group targeting, and where PBM can realistically fit into a training week.

Can red light therapy help weightlifters? Explore the research on DOMS, strength, performance, timing, dosage, and muscle growth with red light therapy.

A 10-minute red light therapy session doesn’t tell you the whole dose.

Two devices can both run for 10 minutes while delivering different amounts of optical energy. To understand what a session actually delivers, you need to look beyond treatment time.

Irradiance, fluence, wavelength, treatment distance, device geometry, and treatment area all affect how light exposure should be interpreted.

There’s also an important distinction between the dose used in a research study and the dose delivered by a home device. The numbers aren’t always directly interchangeable.

Our latest guide breaks down the key measurements behind red light therapy dosage and explains what to look for when comparing device specifications.

Learn how red light therapy dosage works, including irradiance, fluence, treatment time, and how to calculate the light dose from your device.

Can red light therapy actually make a difference for your gums?

That’s one of the questions behind our latest guide, especially for people noticing gum sensitivity, inflammation, bleeding, or recession.

We look at what researchers have measured in red light therapy studies, what changes may show up over time, and why before-and-after photos don’t always tell the whole story.

You’ll also find practical guidance on using red light therapy for gums at home and what to consider when comparing different treatment approaches.
