Obituary

Anthony Jerome Hammon was born April 4, 1968 in Pineville, LA to Lizzie Mae Hammond and Hammond. He departed this life and called to eternal rest on October 2, 2013 at Cabrini Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandmother, Lizzie Williams, maternal grandmother Leona Glass, two aunts Doretha Smith and Ruby Lewis and one cousin Roderick Johnson.

He was united in holy matrimony to LaTonya Carter o August 2, 2008.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a very devoted and caring wife LaTonya Carter of Alexandria, LA, 1 son Anthony J. Ferrell of Alexandria, LA 3 Daughters Shaina Martin (Juron) of Norfolk, VA. Shquaundra 'Lil Mama' Hammond and Jazmine Hammond both of Alexandria, LA. Kathryn Larissa Trowel Lander

Obituary

For I am now ready to be offered, and my departure is at had. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but into all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:6-8.

On Tuesday May 22, 1973 at 2:00 P.M,, by way of Huey P. Long Hospital in Pineville, LA God made a special delivery: Kathryn Larissa Trowel to the union of Katherine Grayton Trowel and Larry William Trowel. On Thursday, May 18, 2006 at 11:18 P.M God returned to her birthplace and summoned her back home, for her earthly assignment was now completed.

"Rissa" was baptized at the age six by Rev. Frank L. Freeman into the Second New Zion Missionary Baptist. She sang her first song "Lord Hold My Hand" immediately following her baptism. She grew up participating in Sunday School Sunshine Band, Junior Ushers and Sanctuary Choir. While living in Dallas, TX she attended Carver Heights Baptist Church, but remained on the membership of Second New Zion until her passing.

She was a "91 graduate of Peabody High school and attended Miss Wade' Fashion College of Dallas, TX. She was a self-taught seamstress, hairstylist, decorator and artist.

She was united in Holy Matrimony on April 12, 2002 to John E. Landor in Dallas, TX. No children were born of this union.

"Rissa" was a loving wife and devoted daughter that loved and respected her parents no matter what the situation. She possessed a caring and compassionate personality. She always had time for the elderly and children.

Those left behind who were blessed enough to share in her life include: her loving and devoted husband: John Landor, Sr of Alexandria, LA; 3step-children John Landor, Jr. Of Dallas, TX. Nadja Milan Landor and Justin Andrew Landor of Grandview MO, mother: Katherine Crayton Shelmire, and father of 31 years: Joseph Shelmire, Sr. Of Alexandria, LA; 4 Sisters: Jennifer Shelmire of Alexandria LA; Yolanda Bell of Cortinport, LA; Clintonia Bates of Shreveport, LA; and Tameka Trowel, of Alexandria, LA; 5 brothers: Richard William Trowel, and Joseph Shelmire, Jr of Alexandria, LA; Nicolas Trowel, Larry Trowel, Jr. and Christopher Trowel of Murfreesboro, TN. 3 Step-sisters: Karen Chatman of Royce, TX; Rhonda Smith of Fort Worth, TX; and Eleanor Mack of Sachse, TX; 1step-brother: Terry Joseph Shavers of Baton Rouge, LA; mother-in-law: Earnestine R. Bertha Ann Trowel was the first born to Lucille Blue Trowel on June 30, 1960 LeCompte, LA. At the age of 10 years old, she was adopted by Robert Lee Trowel, Sr. She entered eternal rest on April 11, 2007.

Bertha was baptized at an early age in Cheneyville, LA at the Edge field Baptist Church by the late Rev. J.J. Rax. Upon moving to Alexandria, she united with Second New Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Frank L. Freeman, serving as a faithful member until her death under the leadership of Rev Daryl W. Freeman.

Bertha 's education began in Alexandria at Silver City Elementary School, Jones Street Jr High School, Peabody Sr. High School and Aiken's Adult Education where she received her G.E.D. She later attended LSUA for two 2 years, received a Medical Transcriber Degree from Stanford Career Institute, and a Degree in Medical Coding from U.S. Career Institute. At the time of her death, she was attending classes at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital to advance in her career in Food Services. She was previously employed by Piccadilly Cafeterias.

She leaves to cherish her memories: mother: Lucille Blue Trowel, one son: Ronnie (Joyce) Trowel, daughter: Leslie Trowel all of Alexandria, LA, two brothers: Robert L . Ethel Mae Dixon Smith

Obituary

On Tuesday September 18, 2012 the death angel stopped by Christian St. Francis Cabrini Hospital and summoned Ethel Mae Dixon Smith home to be with her heavenly father.

Ethel was born December 31, 1953 to the union of Kalop and Helen Dixon. She was the third oldest of six children.

She was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Green Baptist Church by the late Rev. Jeremiah Williams. She later gone New Scott Olly Batist Church where she served faithfully until her death

She was united in holy matrimony to James Smith and to that union one son was born and later she raised her God Child.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, (1) one brother: George Dixon and (1) one sister: Loretta Dixon.

She leaves to cherish her memories and to celebrate her life, herb husband of 31 years, James Smith; (1) one sons Oriental Smith (Mia) of Bat St. Louis, MS; (1) one step son Reginald Smith (Keisha) Picayune, MS. (1) One God Child, Shudreka Robinson of Alexandria, LA; (1) one sister, Willie Mae Turner (Earnest( of Oklahoma City, Ok; (2) two brothers: Kalop Dixon Jr. Of Alexandria, LA. and Isiah Dixon of Los Angeles, CA; (2) two special friends: Maxine. Jimmy Harris Sr. "Jimmy Lee"

Jimmy "Jimmy "Jimmy Lee" Harris Sr. Was born January 22, 1952 to Isaiah Jr. And Stella Skinner Harris in Pineville, LA.

He received his education at local schools. He was a 1970 graduated of Peabody High School. He loved EVERYTHING about Peabody

Jimmy served faithfully at Christian Worship Center for 29 years. He was an ordained minister, Bible college teacher, prison minister, where he preached in several facilities throughout the state, retired school bus driver for Rapides Parish, and a sales representative at Ivan Smith Furniture.

Jimmy genuinely loved all of his church family as his own. His special gir was Darcy James, who was like a daughter to him

He leave to mourn his passing, His wife, Lois Frierson Harris, sons, Keith Green, Jimmy Harris Jr., and Jason Harris. Sons blended into the family unit, Travis Frierson, Will Milo III, one daughter, Yolanda Milo- Wheeler (Brandon), and Darcy James, who he loved like a. daughter, brothers, Isaiah "Church" Harris Jr., Reverend Edwin Harris (Mary Ann), sisters, Lila Juanita Williams, Sylvia Dorsey, Martha Smith, Salina Carter (Rev. Charles Carter), Francis Elaine Perry, fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Billy Joe Harris was born August 4, 1955, to the late Isiah and Stella Harris of Alexandria, Louisiana. He departed this life on Friday July 19, 1985.

Mildred Faye Smith

Mildred Faye Smith was born to the McKinley Terrell and Alberta Jiles on August 4, 1946 in a field, LA. August 4th was a very important date in her life. It is the date of her physical birth as well as her spiritual birth, which was August 4, 1958. Mildred resided in Mansfield until graduating from DeSoto High School in 1964. She then moved to Alexandria LA where she met her husband Lynell Smith. The two joined in marriage in June of 1966. To that union were born four children Basil Smith (Thea), Theron Smith (Terra), Damon Smith (Nadia), and Re 'Shonda Smith.

Mildred was a devoted wife, mother, first lady, and community member, John 9:4 says "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is dat: the night cometh, when no man can work." Her life was a testament to those words. When she was well she never still, never waited on the next man to do what she could do herself. She would see a need and do what she could to fulfill the need. As the first lady she headed numerous church projects, missions, and most remembered " Wednesday's Kitchen." Mildred helped to eradicate the church's notes with her innovative ideas for fundraising. She touched the lives of her children, family, her church, healthcare workers, and the community by her selfless giving and ability to walk in faith in the midst of her storm. Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 18:21"Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." On August 28th, God's will prevailed.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents McKinley and Alberta, two brothers Ozekll Terrell and Archie Terrell.

She leave to cherish, her husband Lynell Smith, four children: Basil Smith (Thea) of Alexandria, LA, Theron Smith (Terra) of Spring, TX, Damon Smith (Nadia) of Pearland, TX, and Re'Shonda Smith of Pearland, TX: six grandchild TreVon, Torye, Torn, Tage, McKinley and Marley Smith; six living siblings: Exie Terrell of Alexandria, LS. Robert Lee "Peaches" Trowel, Sr.

Robert Lee "Peaches" Trowel,, Sr. was born February 29, 1948 in Louisville, Kentucky to Annie Bell Redd Trowel and the late George Leslie Trowel, Sr. He was the third of four children. He entered eternal rest April 11, 2007.

Robert accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age I Oakdale, LA by the late Rev. Caleb Freeman, late Paster of Second New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Being a faithful member of the church, Robert has served as a member of the Brotherhood and Sanctuary Choir under the leadership of the late Rev. Frank L. Freeman. He remained a member under the leadership of the present Pastor, Rev. Daryl Freeman.

Robert began his education in Louisville, Kentucky at Jefferson Jacob Elementary School. Upon moving to Alexandria, LA daughter-in-laws in 1957 he continued his education through Silver City Elementary School, Jones Street Jr High School and Peabody Sr. High School.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Leslie Trowel, Sr. And his brother George Leslie Trowel, Jr

On January 25, 1969 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Lucille Blue Trowel. Three children were born of this union. In 1970 he adopted Bertha Ann Trowel.

He leaves to cherish his wife: Lucille Blue Trowel, two sons: Robert (Rebecca) Trowel, Jr and Lester (Sha Rhonda) Trowel, one daughter: Vanessa Trowel, one brother: Larry W. Trowel, Sr., One sister; Evon Trowel Jack, mother Annie Bell Trowel all of Alexandria, Louisiana, two sisters in law, twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two uncle's, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be. So he wrapped his arms around you, and whispered, "Come to Me." You didn't deserve what you went through, so he gave you rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. And when he saw you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain. I could not wish you back, to suffer that again.

Sister Jessie Green Ellis was born March 26, 1929 to the union of Bayou Rapides in Alexandria, LA. Sister Jessie departed this life March 14, 2009 at Golden Age Nursing Home, Jens, LA.

Sister Jessie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Frank Ellis and to this union two children were born. She was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Luke Williams at First Evening Star Baptist Church on Bayon Rapids, later under the leadership of Rev. Raymond R. Smith. Sister Jessie was a member of the Senior Choir and was a faithful member until her health failed her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lallee Green, her husband, Frank Ellis, three stepdaughters Rosa Lee Lanehart, Mary Lee Ellis, and Selma Lee Dorsey, one stepson Franklin Roosevelt Ellis, one niece, Lueeinta Jennifer Johnson Dearborne, and one nephew, Gregory W. Johnson.

Sisters Jessie leaves to cherish her loving memories her children, Willie B.Sands (Terry Moore) and Dorothy Smith (Johnny) of Alexandria, LA, one stepdaughter Essie Chandler (Willie)of Houston, Texas, on stepson, Bruce Clark, of Houston, TX, one Grandson, Herbert Wallace III (Ruby) of Alexandria, LA a special step grandson, Charles R. Rev. William Elliott Smith

On Tuesday February 11, 2007 at Willis Knight Hospital in Shreveport, LA, Rev. William E. Smith finished his 72 years of life's journey on this earth and went to take his place with his Heavenly Father

Will was born in May 28, 1935 in New Orleans, LA to the late Johnnie and Eleanor Smith and was raised in Bunkie, LA by his father and step-mother, Ruth Smith.

He was baptized at an early age and later joined the New Scott Olly Baptist Church . In 1977 he married Gloria Hill, his help meet for life. He then moved to Shreveport and became a member of the Bright Star Baptist Church. In March of 1984 he accepted his calling into the ministry and was ordained the following August under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Orange. He was called to pastor Sunshine BC of Dixie, LA where he remained till death.

He was also a member of the M. W. Universal Grand Lodge, A.F. & A.M.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Lottie Smith Terrell.

Lottie Mae Smith Terrell

Lottie Smith Terrell was born in Avoyelles Parish to Johnny and Ruth Smith, who preceded her in death. She accepted Christ at an early age at New Scott Olly Baptist Church. Years later, she became an evangelist, working with various churches in the Maringouin area.

Lottie was united in holy matrimony to Sterling Terrell. To that union 3 children were born.
