Did you know that June is both Pride Month and Black Music Month?

This month is about expression, liberation, and legacy. And when we talk about the roots of Black music, from gospel to blues, house to hip hop, there are so many Black q***r artists at the heart of it all.

Ma Rainey – the “Mother of the Blues,” was unapologetically bisexual and revolutionary.

Jackie Shane – a Black trans soul singer defied norms with truth and talent.

DJ Lady D – a house music legend who helped define Chicago’s sound.

Sylvester – a disco and soul icon whose falsetto and flash helped birth the sound and spirit of house music.

These are just a few powerful voices whose music embodied freedom, resistance, expression, and unapologetic joy.

In the spirit of intersectionality, we recognize that Pride and Black Music Month are not separate stories. They are intertwined legacies of courage, creativity, and culture.

I haven’t posted in a while, but I had to pop back in for Pride Month… because this is a moment that calls for showing up, for celebration, and for standing alongside our LGBTQ2SIA+ family. This Pride Month, I’m honoring the courage and beauty it takes to live authentically in a world that too often tries to push back with injustice, erasure, and violence. Let’s remember that some of our greatest warriors, advocates, and visionaries have been q***r Black women like Marsha P. Johnson, Audre Lorde, and Miss Major Griffin-Gracy. These leaders, and so many others, have not only fought for justice but have shaped our world through music, joy, and cultural brilliance. To my Q***r friends, family, and clients, your dignity, and your right to exist as you are, are non-negotiable. You shine brilliantly, reminding us all that truth cannot be silenced.❤️

It’s International Women’s Day and I am honoring the powerful lineage of badass women whose DNA I share, and the legacy makers across the world.

From the trailblazers who shattered glass ceilings to the unsung champions who quietly paved the way, I stand on the shoulders of giants.

This day is a testament to the power of womanhood and a celebration of our collective triumphs. We refuse to dim our light or shrink in the face of adversity, for we carry a fire like no other.

It’s my Business Anniversary! ✨
I remember when I launched my DEI Consulting business, I was filled with insecurity and an overwhelming feeling of imposter syndrome. Years later, I have studied, learned, grown, and identified who I want to be as a business owner, entrepreneur, and professional. I have worked locally, nationally, and internationally with a wide range of clients including advertising agencies, state governments, non-profits, college sports conferences, universities and small businesses. Becoming a safe and trusted resource for folks who want to understand or engage in trauma-informed DEI is my largest and proudest accomplishment, and I will never take those opportunities for granted.

I show up for every young individual, for every minoritized person, for every woman, for anyone who has been told that they shouldn’t have a seat at the table. For years, I have been my own biggest critic, but I am now also, my own loudest fan. I don’t ask for a seat at the table that cannot hold the weight of what I have to say but instead, I build stronger tables with more room for more of us.

Thank you to each individual who has poured into me professionally. You are the epitome of an example of excellence, fearlessness, and power.

I am excited for this upcoming year… I have some surprises and new offerings up my sleeve. 👀
