Show day for these cuties today! So proud of them! We had been doing a hip hop class until a few months ago when they said they wanted to try something new. I suggested ballet and we started in on that. I heard “ Ballet is Hard” a lot over these last few months. I agreed with them and told them, yes, but we can do hard things! Plus it’s also beautiful and can be very fun too! I encouraged them to not give up just because something may not come as easily to them and might require a lot more effort. And I showed them how sometimes turning a challenge into a game can give us a whole new perspective! They decided to stick with it, and that made this day all that much sweeter! 💕💕💕

I am so fortunate that I get to do so many fun things in my line or work. One of the most fun, is working with as one of her ‘Rhinestone Cowgirls!’ She sends me out to events all over town to dance and teach country line dancing and I always have the best time! Here I am teaching last weekend at the Calabasas Sunset Concert Series! (Photo courtesy of The Acorn newspaper)

I’ve been told many many times that I am a very patient person. I think this is an important quality in anyone who teaches. I understand that each of my students will learn at a different pace and require different types of instruction to be successful. It’s my job to get to know the pace and the learning style of every individual I teach in order to best guide them on their dance journey. Being patient is a must. And I always encourage my students to be patient with themselves as well! Dance should be enjoyable. No sense spending time feeling upset or frustrated with yourself because you don’t quite have it yet. The key word it yet! You got this!

Mix It Up March is well underway and we are having so much fun! It’s always great to get out of your comfort zone and try new things. It’s been amazing so far to see my students push themselves in this way, and in some cases, watch them really connect with a dance style that’s new to them! We’ve been stretching our bodies along with our brains, our imaginations, and our limiting beliefs this month! Come join the fun!
