Mindfulness boils down to three key practices:

1 Awareness
2. Acceptance
3. Conscious choice

They are integral elements of seeing yourself exactly as you are now, cutting through the s**t, and making radical changes in the patterns of your life.

Sometimes it's easier to understand mindfulness through the lens of what UNmindfulness looks like: a life on autopilot, going through the motions, not really connected to yourself, reacting unconsciously and impulsively to your thoughts and emotions, daydreaming, strongly identified with your thoughts, and resisting all the parts of life you're not liking along the way!

Tell me what pillar you're working on the most!

To cultivate MORE peace, do LESS!

Less attachment
Less control
Less resistance
Less judgement
Less manipulating every element of your life to fit within the narrow confines of how you think it should bed

Peace arises the more you let life flow and prioritize controlling how you respond instead of controlling everything around you.

When faced with the prospect of making a big shift, uncertainty, anxiety, and the prospect of regret often take center stage and push aside the prospect of opportunity, expansion, and just feeling like things are RIGHT.

Leaving a long-time job, moving to a new city, ending a serious relationship - looking over the ledge of a tectonic shift can leave us wanting to back away rather than make the jump. The discomfort of complacency is usually preferable to the discomfort of change, but only the discomfort of change has the potential to transform your life.

I've learned these lessons over and over again, especially when making the decision to leave a career and industry (finance...me? It's true) in pursuit of a totally different life.

Your happiness and satisfaction can only be accessed NOW.

It's no coincidence that you have lightbulb moments in the shower.

Ever notice how dwelling, ruminating, turning the same questions over and over in your head seem to make it even more difficult to tease out an answer? It’s like quicksand - the harder you use your rational mind to try to arrive at some conclusion, the further away you get.

And ever notice those times when you relax, take a break, step away, and suddenly an idea - an answer - a choice - comes to you clearly?

Relaxing your conscious thinking allows subconscious thoughts to come to the surface. There's a lot of ways to do it - meditate, do yoga, go for an undistracted walk, engage in an activity you love that gets you in a flow and out of your conscious thought processes.

Give yourself permission - stop thinking all the time 😌 If you need help getting out of your own way, send me DM or book a free consult with me with the “Book Now” button in my profile.
