We affect ourselves. Read this.

Everything affects everything. If you are not enjoying optimal health in your physical body, it affects your emotional well-being (how you feel). It also affects your cognitive life (how you think). When you don’t feel well and you’re not thinking clearly, it’s difficult to make solid choices in your best interest. This can form a cycle: staying “busy” and ignoring negative thoughts and feelings often leads to eating in order to “feel good” (or at least better, in the short term). As a wellness coach and hypnotherapist, I know firsthand that “digging in” to find a means of control that leads to success can feel daunting. I help people just like you to navigate to and communicate with the unconscious mind so your journey feels like a cooperative act, not a battle. If you’d like to have a conversation at no charge, simply direct message me or go to my website and sign up for free discovery call.

Everyone looks for formula for success and yet we know it’s truly a unique path for each person. Like you, I’ve sought to find and develop a systematic approach of techniques to give myself the best chance of success in life and business.

If you’re into self-development and goal achievement, you’re familiar with the daily challenges of overcoming mental and emotional obstacles that seem to creep up from time to time.

I’d like to share with you some of the techniques I have found along the way. They’re not unique to me but they make sense and have helped to provide a sense of control and greater clarity toward achieving outcomes in life. Companies spend millions of dollars in training and development programs that focus on the objectives of the organization. And so they should. But what about individual investment?

How do you garner your own best skills and abilities and work toward the techniques that provide direction in daily life? Here are three techniques for experiencing more of the best that life has to offer.

1. Be intentional about the emotional energy you broadcast

No matter what term you give it, “energy”, “vibe”, or “cognitive type”, we all have a specific type of overall communication style that equates to the energy we put out. You could put this dimension on a continuum with one extreme projecting highly aggressive, open and assertive. On the opposite end lies a hidden or passive style that barely passes notice. Most people detect the level of energy or generalized affect of others they encounter.

It’s important to recognize that, due to the strong mirror cells and natural pacing and leading occurs in human encounters, the person with the strongest frame tends to lead or dominate that particular encounter. This includes the case in which the person leading has a passive, low energy or draining affect on the relationship.

While this is not a call to drastic shifts in your personality, becoming aware of the overall underlying message, the tacit energy you send out can make a huge difference in the feedback you receive. We often hide behind the excuse of “not being in the mood” to lead out, but, just like the dinner you prepare for yourself at home, the little effort you put forth to creating the experience you want to enjoy directly affects you first, and those with whom you interact as well.

What kind of messages might you project? What’s the overall energetic theme you broadcast?

This is not a question easily answered by you, but by those with whom you interact on a regular basis and who will give you an honest read of your sub communications. Here are some for your consideration:
• Peacefulness
• Joy
• Kindness and Compassion
• Self-confidence
• Patient and Understanding
• Accessibility, Approachability and Comfort
• Resourcefulness and Availability
• Thoughtfulness
• Nonjudgmental
• Open-Mindedness

In what ways are you communicating to others that you love yourself enough to be vulnerable, that you are open enough to hear any viewpoint without judgment, and that you are not so self-absorbed as to be unavailable to their needs?

2. A Van with a Plan
When you have taken time to clarify coherent, written and obtainable goals for yourself it shows up in your life in more ways than you might imagine. To have a specific action plan toward the goals you have outlined, you provide yourself the opportunity to measure from time to time, progress toward your intended outcomes.

The most successful people surround themselves with the people and environment, both physically and mentally that go beyond mere wishing and dreaming. When you have taken the time to engage in creative visualization, the results are not only evident in your personal outlook, but the outcomes you achieve.

When you take the time to visualize--not for a few seconds, but for 10 to 15 minutes-- on the outcomes you wish to achieve, you give instructions to your unconscious mind about the intentions you hold most dear. While you are awake and focused only a few hours a day, your unconscious mind is ready and willing to take in instructions and work toward solutions 24 hours a day, even while you are asleep.

Goals and dreams without specific actions remain hopeful works of fiction in your mind. When you take even the smallest actions toward your intended outcomes, whether it’s a phone call, writing a letter or making a plan, you send a message to yourself at a conscious and unconscious level, that what you intend to achieve is really happening. While opinions about the use of to do lists vary, having specific written action steps and taking them every single day is your best chance toward achieving what you most intend to enjoy.

3. Wake up, and Smell the People
If you have not noticed, there are others on the planet. When you discover, explore and nurture the relationships available all around, you will discover the strengths and skills others do well, in which you are still learning to develop.

It certainly possible to work as a generalist, handling with some acumen all the various tasks required for your success. But let’s face it, there’s only so much that you can do on your own. Understand what you are good at, and learn to leverage the strengths of those around you.

What’s hard for you may be easy for them. When you approach the highest levels of productivity and success, you come to the point that you discover that “if it’s not your genius, it’s not your job.”

Take time to assess whether or not your routine, mundane and repetitive tasks could better be handled by someone else, leaving you more time to engage your mind in the genius activities you are called to perform.

That’s a Wrap
Since there is no one perfect plan for success that works for everyone, enjoy the journey in discovering the nuances of your own preferences, strengths, and inclinations. You are familiar with the notion of being in an uptime, on state where you’re fully engaged, thinking and in the “bring it on” mindset. The alternative feels like drifting through the day, defocused and complacent. Both states are normal to human behavior. Make sure you spend enough time each day in the focused, clear and awake mindset, attending to the intentions of your higher self, the goals you have set, and the resources you have within to accomplish them all.
