Scroll โžก๏ธ to see the healthy food art Addison made in session today! After completing the banana flower๐ŸŒผ, Addi had the satisfaction of eating a delicious snack that she was empowered to make herself! As she tasted her creation, we walked through the 5 senses, comparing and contrasting textures, smells and flavors in each ingredient.
Simple hands on learning activities like these are a wonderful way to get children curious and excited about real, nourishing food ๐Ÿ˜›๐ŸŒ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿฅ•

Celebrating the 4th with food art:

We made the ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธout of bread, cream cheese, strawberries, and blueberries.

Addi wasnโ€™t sure she would like her concoction, but after one taste she sold.

This recipe is kid friendly and so easy for your little ones to try on their own at home!

Small efforts like these are a wonderful way to introduce and expand your childโ€™s palette for healthy, real foods :)

My students draw me pictures: part one.
Cheetahs are the artistโ€™s favorite animal and she knows rainbow ๐ŸŒˆ is my favorite color.
These moments are why I do what I do๐Ÿ’•

Shout out to my reading superstar, Addison, who transitioned into kindergarten today!
๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿš€
When we first started play-based tutoring 6 months ago, Addison was familiar with sight words, while not yet reading full sentences.
๐Ÿ“•
Together in our play-based tutoring lessons, she broke through the literary barrier.
๐Ÿฆ„๐Ÿ“–
Now she breezes through multi-syllabic words with confidence.
๐ŸŒฌ
When she comes across large words that she is not familiar with, she sounds them out.
๐Ÿ“ฃ
If your child is new to reading: Make SURE they are sounding out every letter of any word they do not recognize.
๐Ÿ‘€
The practice of sounding out words is the cement that builds a foundation for a reader with healthy habits.
๐Ÿ’ช
Sounding out words ENSURES accuracy, rather than another tactic that many children easily fall prey to...
๐ŸŽฏ
GUESSING๐Ÿคญ what the word is.
โ”
Guessing takes up waaay too much mental energy and distracts a budding reader from comprehending the words they are reading before them.
๐Ÿ™
Bottom line: when your child is learning how to read, encourage them to sound out what they see aloud until it becomes automatic ๐Ÿ˜‰
