MiJa Books is a multicultural children’s bookstore that is Black and Latina owned. For those of you that are local, stop by…and for those of you that aren’t nearby, visit their website for more amazing books.

We are a little behind but couldn’t pass up this challenge #22: To rhyme or not to rhyme?

Rhyming was definitely the goal in our children’s book To Hobbyville We Go! We wanted to encourage kids to try new hobbies, and we introduced this concept via a unique rhyme for each letter of the alphabet.

Through a Child’s Eyes 👀 is prompt #13 from the challenge.

We are always delighted at the joy our 7year-old daughter takes in finding a great new book!

This is a fun fact and challenge #6: Meet Our Characters.

Our book has 27 characters: one for each letter of the alphabet, as well as the main character (our daughter) who appears at the beginning and end of the book.

Naturally, our favorite character is our daughter, but we love all of the characters in our book. Here are a few of the boys and girls of Hobbyville. Swipe ➡️ to see the one of our daughter.

Hey friends! We are super excited about the January challenge! We are a little late, but thought it would be OK to catch up now.

Here is a little bit about us! We have been married for eight years, and have a daughter who just turned seven. We live in Southern California, where we both work in the mental health field. In our free time we enjoy watching Netflix and true crime TV shows, attending plays and musicals, and visiting parks and museums. In 2019 we co-authored our first children’s book, To Hobbyville We Go!

A week ago today we attended the Lakewood Holiday Book Fair and Book Drive!

It was an amazing event that provided free books to kids and families in the community. We were honored to participate in an event that promoted childhood literacy while supporting local authors.
