Jumping looks like the fun part. (And it is!) But it's built on things that happen way before you ever see a fence.

Here are the three things we look for before adding jumps into a lesson (swipe through) →

If you've got all three, you're closer than you think. If not, that's exactly what lessons are for.

Farrier day is one of the most important days on the barn calendar!

Every 6-8 weeks, our horses get their hooves trimmed, balanced, and shod if they need it. ➡️ Most people never think about it, but it's the difference between a sound horse and one that's struggling.

Good hoof care is the foundation of everything!

Our lesson horses are cared for from head to hoof, and that's a big part of why they're so reliable for our students in Lorton.

Something I care about a lot: keeping this an honest space. 🐴

It's easy to only post the good rides and make it look like every session goes perfectly. But that's not real, and I don't think it helps anyone.

The truth is that horses have off days just like people do. A rough ride isn't a failure. It's information that shows me what the horse needs next.

That's the version of this work I'll always show you. The real one!

Dressage is more than a discipline — it’s a conversation between a horse and rider. 💬

👉 Build balance, softness, and precision while developing a deeper connection with your horse through thoughtful, intentional riding.

Our dressage lessons focus on strong foundations and correct basics, making them welcoming and beneficial for riders of all ages and experience levels.

Private lessons are $85 each, and semi-private lessons are $65 each. (Or, book a pack of 4 and save!)

DM us to book your ride and experience the beauty of dressage. 🤍

Before a horse is ever ridden, they're taught to trust. And that happens on the ground.

Groundwork isn't a warm-up, it's the foundation. ⤵️

Leading, lunging, desensitizing to sights and sounds — it's how a horse learns to look to their handler instead of their instincts.

Skip this step, and you're just hoping for the best once you're in the saddle.

Every horse that comes through Shadow Falls starts here. It's slower, but it's how you build a horse (and a rider!) you can actually trust.

Meet Radar!!

He's not exactly new around here — but as of now, he's officially ours! Radar came to us from his amazing previous owner, Cortney, and we couldn't be more grateful for the way she raised him.

At home, he's a sweet, lazy guy who's perfectly happy doing the bare minimum. In the show ring? Completely different pony — spunky, sassy, and ready to show off. We love his range.

Welcome to the Shadow Falls family, Radar. We love you SO much already. 🫶
