On this day in 1913, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's first International President, Nellie May Quander, led the charge to incorporate our organization. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® thus became the first sorority in the United States to achieve this permanent legal status.

Her bold vision preserved our legacy in perpetuity, ensuring that as the first Black Greek-letter sorority to incorporate, we would continue leading, serving, and thriving for generations to come. 118 years strong and still setting the standard.
