MHFA back on the podium! At the ARFL event over the weekend we saw coaches Collin and David with 1st and 4th in Saber, Genevieve in 3rd for URG Longsword, and finally David, Jim and Spike in 1st through 3rd in Sword and Buckler! Also a shout out to friend of the club Kevin of Roundtable, who grabbed 3rd in Saber. We're proud of all our fencers who competed and are thrilled to see the results of their hours of practice.

The sunburns are worth it! Four of our members have the honor of being in the Order of the Marshal, which puts on historical fencing demonstrations at the VA Ren Faire, with proceeds going to Make-A-Wish. Daggers for the children!

Happy Star Wars Day to all who celebrate! We did some Historical Ewok Martial Arts ( ) with this Saturday for our own celebration. May the Force of Others be with you!
Yet another game! In Short vs. Long, one fencer gets a stark disadvantage - they must either use a dagger or else must half-sword against an opponent with no limitation. It's a lot of fun with distance management and playing with your range!
More fencing games! This is Defend the Hole. One fencer is playing Defend the Wall with their Foot in the Hole, while the other is free to move as they please. Fencers have to adapt to their opponent dictating the engagements!

Sword and offhand fencing manual? Coach Collin continued our Marcelli unit by discussing the first guard, and why holding the sword parallel to the ground makes it hard to control. When your opponent tries to take it, change the line!
