al and Mrs. Johnson taught first and second grades. The first year we had only one graduate. The school was first accredited on May 29,1981. From the beginning, the church members have supported the school with their generous love offerings and prayers. Realizing that children often become like their teachers, Mr. Johnson sought teachers who would be an example not only in word, but also in deed. A terrible fire destroyed the inside of the building on March 25,1984 forcing the school to relocate for a period of time. Over the years, the school has added to its program a Student Council, Yearbook Staff, Prom and a Sports program. Through the years we have witnessed young people graduate and become successful adults. Many lives are changed each year as they accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour. The Word of God is taught daily. This enables the students to grow spiritually. Grace Christian School is unique in that it is a home away from home. Students receive love and correction daily from the staff. Many times the staff's hearts have rejoiced with the students over their accomplishments and cried with them over disappointments. No matter where their paths may lead, there is always a bond of love between the students and staff. Each member of the Grace Christian School family is greatly indebted to God, Mr. Johnson and all who have made Grace Christian School's vision come true. We have been serving Loris, South Carolina and the surrounding area since 1980, and we are fully accredited by the National Private School Association Accreditation Alliance. Grace Christian School is part of the
Grace Tabernacle Christian Center family, which has been part of the Loris community since 1976. Our vision is to partner with parents to bring up their children in a loving and disciplined environment, and give them a sound basis in the Word of God as well as in academics. We accomplish this goal through the personal attention given by our experienced educators and a low teacher-to-student ratio. Grace Christian School also offers a self-paced academic system designed to meet the individual needs and abilities of each child, as well as a variety of sports and other activities to build our students' confidence and self-esteem. Grace Christian School is fully accredited through the National Private School Association Accreditation Alliance. Grace Christian School uses the ABEKA curriculum for K-4 and K-5. This curriculum emphasizes phonics and proper handwriting. This enables children to become strong readers, preparing them for the Alpha Omega and A.C.E. First through Twelfth grades uses the Accelerated Christian Education Curriculum(A.C.E) and Alpha Omega Lifepac. The purpose of the curriculums is to provide Christian Schools with a complete printed text and resource activities covering the academic skills and informational subjects that are recognized by contemporary American educational standards. The Alpha Omega curriculum requires more reading and comprehension skills and allows students to advance further in their learning. The A.C.E and Alpha Omega curriculums are designed to find the student's academic level and permit the student to learn at his or her own speed. At Grace Christian School, our students are taught in a optimal student to teacher ratio in a loving Christian environment.
