🌸 Mother’s Day always makes me think about the ways language, food, traditions, and stories get passed from one generation to the next.

So many of us came to Italian not just through textbooks, but through memories:
a recipe,
a grandparent,
a song,
a family story,
or simply the feeling that something meaningful was waiting to be rediscovered.

Next Sunday, I’ll be beginning a new 6-week Conversation Tour at La Bella Lingua nel Bosco:

Together, we’ll explore Italian festivals and local traditions through photos, menus, maps, short videos, and authentic materials while building real conversation skills in a supportive small-group environment.

This course is especially designed for learners who want more opportunities to use Italian gently and consistently — without pressure or perfectionism.

In Italy, **Pasqua (Easter)** often centers on family, tradition, and long meals shared together…
and then **Pasquetta** opens the door to something a little lighter — a day for friendship, fresh air, and spontaneous plans. 🧺🌸

Maybe it’s a picnic.
Maybe it’s a walk in the woods.
Maybe it’s simply time spent with people who make you feel at ease.

There’s something beautiful in that balance — roots and wings, ritual and freedom.

What makes you want to study Italian? 🇮🇹✨

For me, it started as a child—with a quiet curiosity. I knew my father’s grandparents came from Southern Italy, from a small town between Isernia and Campobasso. But somewhere along the way, the language didn’t make it to us. My grandfather didn’t speak his family’s dialect as an adult, and my father never knew it at all.

Growing up in Minnesota, without a strong Italian-American community around me, that part of my story felt… distant.

It wasn’t until college—and my time at the Concordia Language Villages—that something shifted. Learning Italian became more than studying a language. It felt like building a bridge:
→ to my past
→ to people I never met
→ to a version of myself I hadn’t yet discovered

And then something even bigger happened.

Italian didn’t just connect me backward—it opened doors forward. New ways of thinking. New ways of being. New ways of relating to the world.

Sometimes I think of my teaching as helping people gently reclaim something that was lost. But it’s also about discovery, joy, connection, and possibility. 🌿

🐟✨ Pesce d’Aprile… nel bosco ✨🐟

In Italia, il 1° aprile si celebra il Pesce d’Aprile — a day of playful tricks, lighthearted jokes, and… paper fish secretly taped to someone’s back 🐠

Why a fish?

No one knows for certain, but one charming idea connects it to water, to movement, to something just out of reach — like a story that slips away the moment you try to catch it. It’s a reminder not to take ourselves too seriously… and to stay curious.

And here in the North Woods, fish carry their own quiet meaning.

In places like the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, fish are not just something to catch — they are part of a living system. Clean water. Healthy forests. Time spent listening, waiting, observing. Fishing becomes less about the “catch” and more about connection.

There’s something beautifully aligned here with la bella lingua nel bosco:

🌿 Letting meaning reveal itself in its own time

Just like language, just like water, just like a fish beneath the surface.
