On May 25, 907, the Tang dynasty officially came to an end after nearly three centuries of rule. The final emperor abdicated under pressure from the warlord Zhu Wen, ushering in the turbulent Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period.
The Tang dynasty is remembered as one of the high points of Chinese civilization, famous for its poetry, art, international trade, and cultural influence across Asia.
