Happy 4th of July!

It is so exciting to teach a student a song he/she really wants to learn to play. 🎹🎹🎹JOY!

The goal for April for my piano students is to memorize a song about/with an animal. The beauty of memorizing it is that they will be able to play it anytime, anywhere, for anyone.

Happy World Piano Day! 🎹✨

Why March 29? Because the piano has 88 keys — and today is the 88th day of the year.
Perfect, right?

From Baroque harpsichords to modern concert grands, the piano has been the heartbeat of classical music for over 300 years. It's the instrument that gave voice to Chopin's poetry, Beethoven's fury, Debussy's dreams, and Rachmaninoff's storms.

Whether you're a concert pianist or just learning your first scale — today is YOUR day. Play something beautiful today.

What's the first piece you ever learned on piano? 👇.

At the end of February, 2 of my piano students participated in the Festival of the National Federation of Music Clubs. Both young boys did well!! Great job, boys!

Why Music?

Music is science.
Music is mathematical.
Music is a foreign language.
Music is physical education.
Music is all of these things, but most of all,
Music is art.

That’s why we teach music (why I teach piano).
Not because we expect you to major in music,
Or because we expect you to play or sing all your life,
But so you will be human,
So you will recognize beauty,
So you will be closer to an infinite beyond this world,
So you will have something to cling to,
So you will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness
More good—
In short, more life.

I don’t know who wrote this, but expresses much of why I teach piano and enjoy the piano.

Music is such a gift, and I am excited to continue teaching piano lessons and sharing what playing piano gives.
