Reprinted from Viber: A wonderful obituary for Roger V***r written by former GA Chuck Garcia of New York:

“Our condolences to Aida, children, grandchildren for Sigma Rho’s great loss of Roger V***r’ 57. As a Freshman in UP College of Arts & Sciences, Roger was the first Sigma Rhoan I had contact with. And, it was in the basketball court at the UP Diliman gym. We are both Bisayan s and we communicated in Cebuano. And that facilitated our bonding. You did try to recruit me to join the Sigma Rho but at that time I was more interested in UPSCA and the pretty girls of course. Two years later, I joined the Sigma Rho and there you and I reconnected. You were so happy to see me, and the Brods may not believe this but not once did you physically initiate me. When I became GA in ‘63, you made sure that my word was the law. I saw you punch a resident Brod for some comment that that Brod made that seemed to disagree with my word.
Roger you were/are a true warrior and pardon me Roger for this - you were more than that - you were a war monger. I had to bail you out a number of times from the Quezon City P. D. Precincts for engaging in brawls. But you always had my back and I appreciate that very much to this day and thereafter. I know you idolized Brod Freddie “Momo” Rinonos for his prowess as a fighter/karatista and along with the late Teddy Mohammad (Golden Gloves Champ) and Mac (Macacunog) Macarambon of Lanao they were the front liners in the phalanx of Sigma Rhoan ready for battles. Roger, I know that you always bonded with those aforementioned because you yourself were/are a true warrior. All the Brods myself included salute you for showing to all the other fraternities that no Sigma Rhoan backs out from a good fight. This image is intact. Roger, you may be showing your toughness most of the time but you cannot hide from us, your Brods, your gentle side for the Brods. We had good times and we had bad times in Diliman, the Capitol Grill and other places but the good times by and large exceeded the bad times. Thank you for being my Brod and you can rest assured that this feeling of mine is shared by all the Brods. We will always think of you as a fun loving Brod who just happens to be a warrior when challenged. We will give toasts to your memory each time we drink for being what you were/are - a Sigma Rhoan Warrior. Farewell and may you Rest In Peace Roger. God Bless You. Chuck Garcia”
