Self Defense in the LBC is an online music and community-building festival, held tomorrow, Sunday July 19th, from 12-8. The online event intends to raise awareness, funds and other resources to help from RA Life Defense at the Urban School of Self Defense in DTLB, as well as to support the values she and her business stand for.

Her building was burned down by arsonists who used the protests as cover and excuse to burn it, and the gentrification of the area is very probably culpable, so we want to contribute to the discussion and awareness-raising around that issue.

It is also an act of coming together as a city and broader community to become more conscious of how issues of development affect the community’s ability to defend itself. There will be a panel of local experts discussing this issue in relation to Long Beach.

Thankfully many of the great musical artists in the city have offered to contribute their talents to the event and we also want to celebrate them and their ability to make and share their art. See you there!
