A Trailblazing Teacher

A Trailblazing Teacher A Trailblazing Teacher aims to encourage teachers to create innovative, and engaging lessons. One of our favorite places to go to is Yosemite National Park.

I am an elementary-school teacher in Southern California who is passionate about technology and helping students get excited about learning, become creative and innovative, and reach their highest potential. What’s up with the name “A Trailblazing Teacher?”

You can say that “adventure” has been a common theme in my life. For generations, my family has prioritized going to new places and trying ne

w things. We love hiking the trails, exploring the meadows, and hoping we run into some sort of wildlife (from a safe distance, of course :-P). It’s from these adventures that I’ve learned that it’s the trails that lead us to the beauty of this world. Being a trailblazing teacher is about acknowledging and accepting the fact that teaching is, and will always be, a new and different experience every year, every day, and every moment. It’s about taking chances, being creative, and innovating new teaching practices to meet the needs of all learners. Ralph Waldo Emerson stated:

“Do not go where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

As a trailblazing teacher, I believe in taking risks, welcoming new ideas, and trying new things. I want to forge new paths, so that others can have access to new ways of thinking. Through my teaching, I hope to:
1) Inspire my students to become curious about, and explore, the world around them to become lifelong learners,
2) Help my students develop the mental and emotional fortitude to persevere through academic challenges, and
3) Encourage my students to reach their highest potential and pursue their passions. I hope to provide you with creative and innovative teaching strategies so that you can find the inspiration and courage to become a trailblazing teacher. I want to encourage you to leave your own trail, and in turn, inspire your students to do the same. Warmly,

Heather | A Trailblazing Teacher

Here is one of my favorite teacher tips and tricks! When you really need a student to remember something important when they get home, use an event wristband! I seriously got mine a few years ago and I have plenty left to last me a few more years. They’re cheap, easy to use, and effective. Enjoy!

Of course I don’t have all the answers to how education and teaching is going to change, but I’m very interested in engaging in the conversation about it! I just don’t think Ai can replace teachers. We are too valuable and we wear too many hats that Ai cannot replicate. I’m also very interested in how Ai will be introduced to students at various grade levels! I know my 4th graders are experimenting at home!
