This is a forum to continue Lucky's message of KINDNESS, COMPASSION, ACCEPTANCE & RESPECT.

Our curriculum uses animals and their stories as a safe way for children to connect to their own situations. Our lessons spark emotional identification, break down barriers, develop resilience and problem-solving skills. Our stories help children to value themselves, see new possibilities, build trust and feel hope.

Walking early to avoid the rain 💧☔️🌧️
Pros: stay dry
Cons: arrive to before they open. Therefore missing seeing my favorite person and not getting my daily treat.

Vedder’s 5 year gotcha day is coming up!! Every year on his gotcha day we make a donation to his little rescue up in Oregon. Kirsten runs a small but MIGHTY rescue in tue hills near Eugene. She continues to do everything possible to help the dogs lucky enough to be wallflower dogs. Her decompression, training, socializing and adoption protocols should be the model for all rescue orgs. This year we will be donating $500 for 5 years. And we are asking our followers to match our donation. Please consider a small (or large amount to & help us double our donation.

Today we taught at Cubberley School in Long Beach. We celebrated Neurodiversity and friendship. We shared the story of how Lucky and Vedder became best friends even when Lucky had never had a dog friend before (she was grumpy around other dogs). Vedder was super supportive, a good listener, patient and he kept trying and inviting Lucky to play until she was ready. Vedder is a really good friend and we can all learn from him. But something we sometimes overlook is the fact that Lucky is also a really good friend, she was just scared. If you asked Vedder he would tell you that his efforts to be her friend were worth it! These two love each other so much. We hope every single being in the world experiences a friendship as beautiful as theirs. Thank you and .cubs for hosting Autism Week and for all you do year round! Thank you .cubs for inviting us to speak and thank you to our partner for your support and your friendship!

Hi Everyone, Lucky here with a friendly reminder: When your kids are mailing a note to Santa - PLEASE skip the “Naughty and Nice” labels.

Momma and I watched a PSA today from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Find it and WAtCH IT!! (You’ll be glad you did)

It goes right along with my lesson that there are no bad kids! A kid may feel overwhelmed, angry, sad, insecure or tired and so they act out. But their behaviors DO NOT make them “bad”. And guilting them into behaving “nicely” doesn’t teach them to deal with their big feelings.

When I go into schools my lesson is about making mistakes, making bad choices, saying something mean, or lashing out and the importance of feeling our feelings, allowing our feelings, and forgiving ourselves.

Labels hurt!! And NO ONE deserves to get stuck in a label. So please skip the “naughty” and “nice” labels when speaking about Santa. (And all year through)

PS -One of my favorite accounts has a great post about this today too please check it out.

PPS- many dogs end up in the shelter because someone has labeled them too! (too old, too grumpy, too hyper, too growly, too destructive, too needy…you get the point.) Stop labeling your pets too! Help them, train them, and PLEASE keep your commitment to them.

Xoxo

We’ve created “guided lessons” as downloadable pdf’s to help teachers introduce our pawfessors and their lessons before the classroom visits. The guided lessons have links to videos, discussion prompts and follow up activities.

After the children spend time learning each lesson, they will be even more excited when each dog visits their classroom (in person or on zoom)

All videos, lessons and activities are available for download on our website. Link in bio

Spending the day with ADORABLE ADOPTABLE Lambchop (aka Lamby) she is pure joy! If you are looking for an amazing dog she might be perfect for you. Lamby has some lingering skin issues but the rescue will pay for her treatments. Lamby needs a family that is committed to good nutrition, exercise, and lots of love.
