Discover the fascinating science behind freeze-drying through the lens of a food scientist with Kris! In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore how agriculture and science intersect in the preservation and processing of foods. Using the lesson “The Science of Freeze-Drying” from the National Agricultural Literacy Curriculum Matrix, educators will experience how to bring real-world agricultural concepts into the classroom. 🍓 🔎

Check out the NEW Taste and Teach $250 Award for any Utah public K-12 teacher! This award provides selected teachers with funding of $250 to purchase Utah-grown or Utah-made foods that allow students to taste, explore, and learn about the people, products, and stories behind Utah agriculture. From fresh fruits and vegetables to dairy, beef, popcorn, honey, and more, “Taste and Teach” helps students make meaningful connections between local agriculture, science, nutrition, culture, and the food they eat every day.

✨️ New Lesson Highlight✨️

How Sweet It Is: Investigating Sugars and Sweeteners🍬

This lesson will help you and your students, "Investigate natural and artificial sweeteners by sorting examples, tracing sugar from field to table, and comparing the pros and cons of artificial alternatives. Students build nutrition literacy by evaluating food labels for total and added sugars, then apply their learning in a taste test of cookies made with different sweeteners."🍪

This lesson is designed for grades 9-12, but can be modified to fit other grade levels🧑‍🏫
