🚨 Calling all Utah secondary teachers! 🚨

Looking for an exciting opportunity to bring real-world, student-led learning into your classroom? Utah Agriculture in the Classroom is seeking teachers interested in partnering on a USDA-funded Food Loss & Waste Prevention initiative through National 4-H Council and Utah 4-H. 🌱

Students will lead projects that reduce food waste in their schools while learning about food systems, nutrition, food preservation, and sustainability.
- If selected, you'll receive:
- $1,000 teacher stipend upon project completion (August 2026–May 2027)
- $8,500 in project funding for supplies like composting materials, food dehydrators, garden supplies, blender bikes, educational resources, and more.
- Opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, including participation in Ignite by 4-H, the national youth leadership conference.

The application deadline is this Friday, July 31!

📚 Free Classroom Sets Available for Teachers! 🌱

Utah Agriculture in the Classroom is pleased to offer free classroom sets of "Oh, Scrap!" to current Utah public school teachers.

"Oh, Scrap!" is an engaging agricultural reader that helps students investigate the global issue of food waste. Through interactive content, students explore the differences between food waste and food loss, examine where each occurs throughout the food supply chain, and discover the economic, social, and environmental impacts of wasted food.

In addition to printed classroom sets, "Oh, Scrap!" is available as a printable PDF and a digital e-reader, providing flexible options for classroom instruction.

Teachers may request 1–5 classroom sets, with 35 readers included in each classroom set, making it easy to provide a copy for every student. Requests will be filled while supplies last.

Still recovering from Summer Agriculture Institute, put on by Utah Agriculture in the Classroom! 🌱

We had two full days packed with agriculture workshops, tours, and connecting with teachers from all over Utah. It was such a great opportunity to learn, share ideas, and see agriculture in action! We visited Fullmer Dairy, the Redmond Salt Mine, and Johnson Mountain Ranch, getting a behind-the-scenes look at different parts of Utah agriculture.

A huge thank you to all of our hosts, presenters, and everyone who helped make Summer Agriculture Institute such an amazing experience! 🐮
