Well it wasn’t the outcome I was hoping for but I want to say thanks to all that voted. Success is not the absence of failure, but rather the persistence through failure. I will still make more of an effort to be more active in the community and I hope all of you do as well. Also, congratulations to Josh Wall and I want to wish him best of luck!

Tomorrow is the Voting Day!! I just wanted to share again a little bit about me and why I would appreciate your vote! Please share!

My name is Matt Dean and I would like to officially announce my candidacy for School Board member of the Locust Grove School District. I have been a lifelong member of the Locust Grove community. I have been married to my wife, Berdina, for 20 years and we have two sons, Payton and Aiden. Payton recently graduated from Locust Grove High school and Aiden is currently a 6th grader at Locust Grove Middle School.

I have been a youth sports coach, in some capacity, for the last 14 years so I understand the importance of teamwork. I have been a production manager in the Mid-America Industrial Park for the last 11 years.
In that role I have experience with union negotiations, budget proposals, and employee relations.
​In my opinion, as a school board member, the priorities should be students first and proper supervision of public funds.

I am running for this position because I want to ensure that we continue to upgrade our Locust Grove School facilities to give our children every opportunity to be successful in their endeavors. As parents, I believe we all want to see our children receive a standard of education that will prepare them to succeed. I would also like to focus on teacher retention, as I believe it is vital that we make every effort to keep and support the educators that truly care about our kids and strive to challenge them in the classroom. Furthermore, I wish to promote more community involvement so that the School Board understands the true wants and needs of our students, teachers, and citizens. I can honestly pledge to be completely transparent and to always have an open door. With that being said I would like to humbly ask for your vote in April.
