Chalk the Walk 2026: September 21–25

Theme: Hope Is a Community Effort

Join the Onondaga County Su***de Prevention Coalition for Chalk the Walk during Su***de Prevention Month!

Neighbors, schools, businesses, organizations and families are invited to fill sidewalks, driveways and community spaces with colorful messages of hope, kindness and connection.

Grab some chalk and share a simple message like "You Matter," "You Are Not Alone" or create your own artwork to remind others that hope is a community effort.

We're partnering with 6 local libraries this year. Pick up a free starter chalk kit the week of Chalk the Walk (Sept 21–25) at Fayetteville Free, Northern Onondaga Public Library (NOPL) North Syracuse Branch, Salina, Mundy, White Branch & Beauchamp while supplies last.

Share your creations on social media, tag the Onondaga County Su***de Prevention Coalition and use to help spread hope throughout our community.

You don’t owe everyone a detailed explanation for choosing what’s best for you.

Your needs, your growth, and your happiness are personal, and you’re allowed to honor them without seeking approval.

Resting, setting boundaries, making changes, and taking care of yourself are not things you need to justify. Your journey is yours, and that’s enough.

If you’re struggling with feeling overwhelmed or carrying things alone, support is available throug by calling 988 / texting “Got5” to 741741.

Supporting someone doesn't mean having all the answers. Sometimes the most meaningful thing you can do is listen, show up, and remind them they don't have to face life's challenges alone. 💙

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or needs emotional support, call or text 988 anytime to connect with a trained crisis counselor. Help is free, confidential, and available 24/7.

A better morning doesn’t require a full routine overhaul, just a few intentional choices that help your mind and body reset and move with more ease through the day.

Start simple, stay consistent, and let your mornings support you instead of rush you.

If today feels overwhelming or you need someone to talk to, support is available by calling 988 / texting “Got5” to 741741.

No need to filter it, fix it, or make it sound okay, just naming what you feel is already a form of healing. The more we practice putting emotions into words, the more we normalize being real with ourselves and with others.

Let’s normalize talking about emotions, one honest sentence at a time. If things feel heavy, support is always available by calling 988 / texting “Got5” to 741741.

Over the weekend, we were honored to be part of the Black Men United Free Community Giveaway on Syracuse's Northside.

Events like these are about so much more than providing supplies. They're about neighbors showing up for one another, organizations working side by side, and building a stronger, more connected community through compassion, service, and partnership.

A heartfelt thank you to and Yolanda Seegars for organizing such a meaningful event and bringing so many volunteers, organizations, and community members together.

It was inspiring to see everyone working toward the same goal: supporting local families and strengthening our community.
