Who thinks mortuary school doesn’t include or devote significant attention to natural and eco-friendly practices? While that may be true in some places, ACC (and other programs for sure) MOR program believes that part of our duty to educate includes giving just as much time to the options our communities are telling us they want, and “raising” our graduates to be open minded and to BE the change the industry needs by expanding the idea of what funeral practitioners are. Thank you to Emily Miller of and for presenting today on all things natural burial and eco-friendly body care. Students also participated in many hands on activities including shrouding an individual , lowering a shrouded person, using the lift to casket a shrouded individual, and handling a shrouded individual without a lift. They were able to use a wool shroud and cloth shroud, a med-sled, and willow caskets. Thank you to and for their support with materials!

Lab Group 1 is done for the fall! These students have now completed 5 embalmings (some of them many more). For many of them, these were their first ever!

My goal has been to have an event like this in the Denver area for YEARS, since I flew to CA to see Chris Donhost's event with his OPO and local mortuary science program.

I am so happy to finally have the partners on board and to be able to offer this educational workshop and Donor Symposium for my industry.

These events are approved for CEU credit in many states. Registration links are below. Registration for attending both days is reduced.

ACC Mortuary Science students went on a scavenger hunt this morning! Using a scavenger hunt app, they split into teams and had a list of particular monument and marker styles and materials, and other cemetery features that they had to snap a photo of. The photos go directly to the group in the app and we can all go back to the classroom and see what everyone found and how accurate they are! A lot more engaging and interesting than just a PowerPoint!

We are thrilled that our instructor, Ren, was able to participate in the ABFSE Summer Curriculum Review in CA! In addition to helping improve the curriculum, he got to see some amazing history!

We went on a tour of today! We are lucky to have a natural burial preserve here and think it’s so important to be well educated in all options.
