If you build it, they will come. Gorgeous day to celebrate University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College, John Boozman, City of Little Rock, AR - Government, the Little Rock Port and workforce development in general. Thanks to $20 million recently secured in federal funds from Sen. Boozman, UA-PTC is set to build a state-of-the-art workforce training center at the Port of Little Rock, with completion anticipated around 2029. This facility will provide training in industrial manufacturing, welding, and high-voltage electrical skills to support growing logistics and manufacturing businesses.
We tip our hats and polish off our Loblolly Creamery treats to that! 🍨

Remember those Clinton School of Public Service students we told you about who helped the UA System Emergency preparedness team? We attended a reception at the Clinton School yesterday celebrating the conclusion of this year’s Practicum projects. The UA System team received the “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” award in honor of how well they worked together to conduct the research and create our needs assessment. The students are now preparing for world travel over the summer to complete international public service projects. Thanks again and congratulations! The UA System project collaboration was led by Ben Beaumont, senior director of policy and public affairs for the UA System.

Just a totally average, casual, normal, non-descript day spent at University of Arkansas at Little Rock:
1.) Meeting with Arkansas Economic Development Institute folks talking about the UA System Workforce Development Center and statewide impact.
2.) Touring and learning about the world-renowned research being done at the Center for Integrative Nanotechnology Sciences.
3.) Speaking at the unveiling of a program to boost cybersecurity around the state with the help of a $1 million award from Google, which builds on the university’s leadership in the Cyber Learning Network, a collaborative effort that brings together colleges and universities across the state to strengthen cybersecurity education, training, and workforce development.
No big deal.

You never know how far a little boost might take someone. Seven UA System students were awarded mini-grants to put a little wind under their sails along their educational journeys. Really one of the neatest programs we get to be a part of, thanks to - and in honor of - former Clinton School of Public Service Dean Skip Rutherford.

Students from Clinton School of Public Service are always on their game. As part of their first year Practicum experience, groups take on projects that are conducted in partnership with organizations across the state, including nonprofits, government agencies, foundations, and community-based organizations.
Recognizing that emergency response preparation and training is a critical component in health and safety of students and employees across college campuses, the UA System benefitted from their months-long work in reviewing and analyzing emergency preparedness plans across our 22 campuses, divisions and units. The team helped identify gaps in institutional preparedness and response efforts and to develop strategies that improve institutional readiness and resilience, minimize the impact of natural and man-made disasters, and accelerate recovery to protect student and staff well-being.
The team presented its findings to the UA System Emergency Preparedness Task Force , and the state's largest higher education system will be better - and safer - for it. Congratulations Joshua Archer, Sadie Chavers, Pashion Israel, and Olivia Parker, and thank you for your work.

Some of our state's sharpest high school students via Arkansas School For Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts brightened up a day at the Arkansas State Capitol with their award-winning research displays in the Old Supreme Courtroom today. Invited by Sen. Matt McKee and Rep. Les Warren, the students were also recognized with a resolution in the Senate. The research on display has already won in several categories at the state level, and the students will all be heading to nationals in Phoenix in the coming weeks.
