DCSTEM and the UA Little Rock Cybersecurity Club () recently got an inside look at how the FBI Evidence Response Team approaches investigations involving both digital and physical evidence.

We learned about investigative techniques used in the field and even saw how fingerprint evidence is processed and recovered from a crime scene. A huge thank-you to the Evidence Response Team at FBI - Little Rock for taking the time to visit campus, share their expertise, and give us a fascinating look at this work!

And if you think cybersecurity is only for cybersecurity majors, think again! Cybersecurity increasingly intersects with fields like criminal justice, psychology, information technology, and many others. UA Little Rock offers a cybersecurity certificate that can complement your current degree and give you an in-demand skill set to take with you into the workforce.

With the Fall semester underway, we are delighted to share the latest edition of the COSMOS Research Center’s newsletter! We continue to expand our impact at the intersection of AI, social computing, and cognitive security

🏆 Our paper on “Symbolic Communication in the 2025 Tariff Discourse” authored by Prof. Nitin Agarwal won the prestigious Best Paper Award at the AIMEDIA 2026 conference in Nice, France! Research shows that human emotion and cultural stories are what truly make global trade debates go viral online.

💥Cosmographers make a splash at the 32nd AMCIS 2026 conference in Reno, Nevada, where three of our studies were accepted. We presented our research on toxic “algospeak” moderation, YouTube recommendation content traps, and the emotional and trust-building effects of symbolic communication on YouTube, with support from federal grants focused on platform integrity and digital resilience.

📊 Hot off the Press: Our latest publication in Springer’s Journal of Social Network Analysis and Mining introduces Weighted Contextual Focal Structures Analysis (W-CFSA), an advanced graph-based framework designed to identify cohesive narrative formations and trace cross-platform narrative propagation.

📚 Featured in our Research Spotlight, three studies from the 14th International Conference on Complex Networks and their Applications in New York investigate how policy shocks, visual elements, and tariff war narratives spread through digital populations.

🤗We welcome Vida Torgbe as our newest Graduate Assistant, contributing to our research and communication efforts.

We had a great time at TinkerFest on Saturday! 🛠🎨🧩

Several departments from the UA Little Rock Donaghey College of STEM joined the Museum of Discovery for a day of hands-on creativity, curiosity, and innovation.

From experimenting and building to exploring science, technology, engineering, and more, TinkerFest gave visitors a chance to get curious and see STEM in action.

We’re proud to have our DCSTEM faculty and students out in the community, sharing their expertise and helping make STEM more accessible, engaging, and fun!

The Donaghey College of STEM at UA Little Rock is hiring a Director of STEM Outreach to lead outreach and recruitment efforts across our college’s STEM programs.

This is an important role in connecting DCSTEM with students, schools, families, educators, and community partners across Arkansas and beyond.

The director will lead STEM outreach programs and summer camps, build school and community partnerships, coordinate recruitment events and campus visits, support bridge programs, and develop new ways to introduce students to STEM opportunities.

Thursday night gave us a pretty spectacular view of the partial lunar eclipse! 🌙

We got lucky with great visibility and captured some incredible moments with UA Little Rock students as they watched the eclipse unfold.

Dr. Gregory Guisbiers also shared a few photos captured through their telescope, giving us an even closer look at the event.

We’re excited to keep creating opportunities like this for our students and the community. Here’s to more nights of looking up, exploring, and learning together!

We’re still thinking about the conversations from Wednesday evening at AI InTheRock @ UA Little Rock.

Conversations explored how artificial intelligence is already being put to work and what it means for our students, businesses, and communities.
