Please give another warm welcome to a familiar face, now official Brent FamiLE member, Christie Ledezma!

Christie spent this past school year student teaching with Mrs. Noto in 3rd grade, and then came back to love on our students as a substitute in nearly every grade level!

We can't wait for you to meet our newest Kindergarten Teacher! 💙

We can’t wait for our Brent FamiLE to meet her and are so excited to have her joining us this year in 5th Grade!

A HUGE congratulations to our gifted artists who competed at the Regional 11 TEAM (Texas Elementary Art Meet).
Brent Elementary submitted six entries, with five achieving the highest rating of 3.

Additionally, two of our entries were honored with Top of TEAM awards.

A special shoutout goes to Zaya Fulcher (4th Grade) and Zoey Whitney (5th Grade) who achieved a perfect score for both their writing and artwork! These remarkable young ladies also earned the prestigious “Top of Team” merit, placing them in the top 9% for this region. Out of 504 works adjudicated in Region 11, only 45 were awarded Top of TEAM medals.

This accomplishment is equivalent to making it to the state level for UIL!

We have one more week left to make some incredible memories!

A few reminders:

-Unclaimed items from the lost and found will be donated on Thursday 5/14!

-Awards Assemblies are for students in the grade level and families (siblings from other grade levels cannot be taken out of class to attend)

-Class Parties are Thursday 5/21 @ 2pm

-Early Release/ Half day: Friday, May 22nd @ 11:50am

-Unless told otherwise by your child's teacher, BRING YOUR BACKPACK EVERY DAY! ☺️

Lots of hard work will be coming home for you to see!

Music K-8 Cover Contest Results!

Out of THOUSANDS of art submissions, the Music K-8 Magazine Contest selected 605 student winners in grades K-8. This year, Brent Elementary had 14 students who were selected for award certificates in the 2026 MusicK8 Cover Design contest.

Promising Young Artist Honorable Mention: Layla Ramirez-Gulley (1st Grade), Isabel Jaramillo (1st Grade), Reyna Macias (1st Grade), Leonel Orobio (1st Grade), Isabella L. Mickey (1st Grade), Liam Ortiz (Kindergarten)

Most Humorous Honorable Mention: Gwyneth Zawacki (4th Grade)

Honorable Mentions: Dani Benson (4th Grade), Jesus Velazquez (3rd Grade)

Finalist: Bahyolet Contreras Gonzalez (4th Grade)

Top Finalist: Ari Palacios (3rd Grade)

7th Runner-Up: Alina Kuang (3rd Grade)

Alina's art was selected as part of the top 15 chosen artworks. Because she was selected for 7th Runner-Up, her artwork is featured within the magazine and will be receiving a $25 cash prize from Music K-8.

She is the first Brent Elementary student and possibly only student in LEISD to have reached this achievement in this contest! Congratulations to all of our award winners!

Einstein Bros. Bagels Old Newman- Frisco helped us start Teacher Appreciation Week with a Bagel breakfast!
