Everyone knows about eSports, but have you ever heard about the other game club that EHTHS has? Rather than focusing on video games, the Unified Game Club instead focuses on more physical games, like card games and board games. The club offers a wide variety of different styles of games for anyone to choose from.
Run by Mr. Stevenson, members of Unified Game Club often play games such as chess, Uno, Connect 4, and more. They are also able to bring in their own games, which is why some members are seen playing Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons.
Through the club, not only are you given a time and place for you to hang out with your friends, but you are also given the opportunity to spend time with people who have similar interests.
“The people seem pretty cool here and board games, honestly, are fun, and there’s a lot more board games than you ever thought there were… People make
good friendships through this,” said Sam Contino, a new member of the Unified Game Club.
Hosted in the library, the environment of this club is more casual and relaxed. A long-time member remarked,
“I recommend this club if you really have a lot of time to kill. If you just want a fun time and a bunch of fun people to hang around with.” In Unified, there is no
pressure to compete or participate. Instead, members are encouraged to forget about the stress from their everyday lives and spend about an hour playing something light and carefree every Thursday after school.
