"Shadow Work: Kansas Photographs in Black and White", The Lincoln Art Center will feature an exhibit of selected photographs by Scott Holl, St. Louis, MO. and watercolors by Meghan Hessman, Salina. The opening reception will be held at the Lincoln Art Center on Friday March 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. through April 25, 2026.

Scott Holl, now living in St. Louis, returns to his hometown with Shadow Work: Kansas Photographs in Black and White, a series that explores how light and shadow shape the way we see familiar places. Working in monochrome allows him to focus on structure, texture, and tonal contrast—revealing details that often recede into the background of everyday life.

Through deliberate composition and attention to nuance, Shadow Work invites viewers to pause, look more closely, and rediscover new depth in surroundings they may have long taken for granted.

Meghan Hessman, owner of Sunflower Follies Art Studio in Salina, KS. works primarily in watercolor, gouache, and acrylic mediums. Much of her inspiration comes from her garden, including flowers, insects, and animals. Originally from Clay Center. She is the Art Gallery Curator for Theater Salina. She volunteers for many organizations and is a Master Gardener.

The artists will speak at 6:15 and visit with guests, refreshments will be served. The art center is open Tuesday - Friday Noon to 4:00 and Saturday 9:00 - Noon. For more information call 785-524-3241 or email [email protected], visit our Lincoln Art Center, or website Lincolnartcenter.org.
