Many years ago, a friend was doing Mehndi at a festival and I fell in love with the look, the ritual, the history, and the artistry of all things henna. There is something about henna that appeals to my spirit and keeps me drawn to its charms. Just for fun, I was designing on my own skin, and willing friends, when I stumbled onto the concept of doing henna designs on more permanent surfaces. At that point, I began to experiment with different types of the media and techniques for making long-lasting artwork. I still love the original concept of fade-away body art as it has been done for hundreds of years. Traditional henna paste, paint, ink, and other art mediums are used to create designs on wood, canvas, candles, and drum skins.
