We are continuing to catch up on a few LMS staff members we did not have an opportunity to feature last year.

Meet Denis Omeranovic, our Technology Support Technician! Born in Derventa, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis studied at a trade school in Croatia. Before joining Lilburn Middle, he worked in technology support in both schools and the banking industry, including serving as a Technology Help Desk Manager at Regions Bank.

Denis chose a career in technology education because he enjoys helping others. Outside of work, he enjoys kayaking, hiking, camping, and remote-control ships. If he pursued another career, he would be a baker. His favorite book is *A Farewell to Arms*, his favorite movie is *The Lord of the Rings*, and his favorite vacation spot is Indian Rocks Beach near Tampa, Florida. When asked where he would go if money were no object, his answer was simply, “Home.”

His favorite quote is, “He who dares...wins!”

We’re glad Denis is part of the Lilburn Middle family!

Seguimos reconociendo a algunos miembros del equipo de LMS que no tuvimos la oportunidad de destacar el año pasado.

Conozcan a Denis Omeranovic, nuestro técnico de soporte tecnológico. Denis nació en Derventa, Bosnia y Herzegovina y estudió en una escuela técnica en Croacia. Antes de unirse a Lilburn Middle, trabajó en soporte tecnológico tanto en escuelas como en el sector bancario, incluyendo su puesto como gerente de soporte tecnológico en Regions Bank.

Our Mustangs are back! Thank you to our teachers and staff members for welcoming students, supporting families, and helping us begin the 2026–27 school year on a positive note. It was a great first day at Lilburn Middle School, and we are excited for the year ahead!

Meet Nicoleta Gardier, a new 6th Grade Science teacher at LMS! Born in Timișoara, Romania, Nicoleta previously served as a substitute teacher at Lilburn Middle, and we are excited to welcome her back in a new role. She earned degrees from Grand Canyon University and Augusta University and became an educator because she wants to make an impact on the younger generation.

Nicoleta and her husband have four sons, along with Peanut, their pet snake. Outside of school, she enjoys gardening, arts and crafts, and a little filateria. Her favorite books include *Jane Eyre*, *Number the Stars*, *Where the Crawdads Sing*, and *The Bark of the Bog Owl*. Her favorite movie is *Pride and Prejudice*, and she enjoys supporting Georgia teams, especially the Mustangs. If she were not an educator, she would be a farmer or an artist. Her favorite vacation spots are northern Italy, near Cividale del Friuli, and Sedona, Arizona. She hopes to visit every country before eventually retiring in the countryside of northern Italy.

Her favorite quote is by George Bernard Shaw: “People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.”

Nacida en Timișoara, Rumania, Nicoleta anteriormente trabajó como maestra sustituta en Lilburn Middle, y nos entusiasma darle la bienvenida nuevamente en un nuevo puesto. Meet Kelly Irby, a new 7th Grade ELA teacher at LMS! Kelly was born in Lewisville, Texas, and attended the University of Georgia and Liberty University. She previously served as a substitute teacher for Gwinnett County, including time at Lilburn Middle, and we are glad to welcome her back in a new role.

Kelly chose education because she wants to make a difference in the generation her own children are part of. She and her husband have two daughters and three dogs. Outside of school, she enjoys running marathons and painting. Her favorite book is *The Hound of the Baskervilles*, her favorite movie is *All the President’s Men*, and she is a Dallas Cowboys fan. If she were not an educator, she would be a stay-at-home mom and continue educating her own children. Her dream trip would take her to Ireland.

Her favorite quote is by Jim Elliot: “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”

We’re happy to have Kelly back at LMS as a member of our teaching staff!

Meet Vanessa Rodriguez, our 6th Grade Clerk! Vanessa is a former Lilburn Middle student who has returned to work at the school she once attended. Born in San Pablo, California, she attended Georgia Gwinnett College and previously worked as an assistant manager at Lifetime Kids.

Vanessa has three children, one son and two daughters. She chose to work in education because she enjoys encouraging students to reach their full potential. Outside of school, she enjoys working out, cooking, and baking. Her favorite place to vacation is the beach, she cheers for the Atlanta Falcons, and her favorite movie is *Home Alone*. If she chose another career, she would be a nurse. Her dream trip would take her to Greece.

¡Conozcan a Vanessa Rodriguez, nuestra secretaria de sexto grado! Vanessa fue estudiante de Lilburn Middle y ha regresado para trabajar en la escuela a la que asistió. Nació en San Pablo, California, asistió a Georgia Gwinnett College y anteriormente trabajó como subgerente de Lifetime Kids.

Before we introduce this year’s new staff members, we are catching up on a few members of the LMS team that we did not have an opportunity to feature last year.

Meet Danielle Carrillo-Hernandez, our 7th Grade Clerk! Danielle is a former LMS student who has returned to serve the school community she once called home. Born and raised in Norcross, she attended Georgia Gwinnett College before returning to LMS as a member of our staff.

Danielle welcomed her first daughter this year and also has a cat named Kimchi. She enjoys shopping, exploring the world, staying active, and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite vacation spot is any beach, and she enjoys reading poetry books and watching *Abbott Elementary* and *Modern Family*. If she chose another career, she would become an OB-GYN because of her passion for helping children and babies. Her dream trip would take her to Japan and South Korea to explore their history and try as much of the food as possible.
